Printer hardware or software settings failure

Any operation performed by the printer is performed according to a predetermined program. Modern printing machines are computerized devices equipped with a controller, RAM, internal memory and other computing electronic components. Like any computer, the printer's control electronics can malfunction, which can affect the ability to perform any operation correctly, including picking up paper from the tray. The solution is to reset the hardware/software settings of the printing machine.

On most HP printers, resetting the settings is very simple:

Cleanup shortcut failure

We tried a shortcut to clean the printer rollers, but it didn't work. According to our research (thanks YouTube!), you can wet the center of a piece of paper with isopropyl alcohol and run it through the printer. Theoretically, a damp sheet will scrape off excess ink or toner from the paper feed roller and exit roller.

Bad shortcut - running a piece of paper soaked in isopropyl alcohol through the printer should have cleaned our rollers... but it didn't.

Prevention is always better than repair

To avoid problems with the printer nozzles, it is better to use it for its intended purpose at least twice a week. This way the paint will not have time to dry and the life of the print head will be longer.

Never operate the printer in extreme weather conditions. In hot weather, it can overheat when printing, and in cold weather, ink and lubricants can become hard, which can damage the entire device.

Dust around the printer is also not harmless, and it is better to keep it clean.

High-quality ink is an important condition for the functioning of nozzles. Only original ink from the manufacturer guarantees high-quality printing and long service life of the printer. By buying cheap analogues, you will have to solve problems with the printer yourself.

One of the problems that you can try to solve yourself is a situation where the printer refuses to pick up paper from the tray or picks it up in a way that it shouldn't. First you need to find out what the reason is, after which it will be easier to fix the problem.

1. The printer loses power.
2. The fabric is moistened with liquid and the rollers are cleaned with it. During the process, the rag needs to be changed several times until dirt stains stop appearing on it.
3. When you can’t reach some of the rollers with a rag, cotton swabs are used.

We found no foreign objects, no worn rollers, reinstalled the drivers, changed the paper to thicker paper, but the situation did not change. One of the reasons, about which there is practically no information anywhere, may be a paper sensor stained with dye. You will be quite surprised how dirty it can get by wiping it with a soft cloth dampened with purified water.
