Decoding the markings of top brands of washing machines

Deciphering the Bosch manufacturer's markings

Bosch (Bosch) is one of the most popular brands of household appliances on the Russian market. The labeling of Bosch washing machines has received a new interpretation since 2022.

Energy efficiency classes

For reference! The first character in the code of all Bosch washing machines is W.

The second letter determines the type of washing machine:

  • A - front loading washing machine, usually with an average depth of 60 cm;
  • L - narrower equipment, equipped with front loading;
  • I - built-in front loading;
  • K - washing machine combining the functions of a dryer;
  • O - vertical loading;
  • V - drying device;
  • E—appliance with a hinged door.

The third letter indicates the class of the machine:

  • S and B - premium class equipment;
  • E - middle class device;
  • A - basic model;
  • X - narrow, middle-class washing machine;
  • T - middle class with vertical loading;
  • R - basic model with top loading.

By marking you can determine the country of manufacture of Bosch equipment. The WAE series cars are assembled in Poland, WAE and WAA in Turkey, and WOT and WOR in France. The most common equipment on the market is German-assembled equipment, having the series WAE, WAS, WLF, WLX and so on.

After the letter designation there is a numeric code that indicates the functionality of the household appliance.

The next two numbers indicate the spin speed. It is very easy to calculate - the number must be divided by 2 and multiplied by 100.

The third digit determines the display type:

  • 1 – without display;
  • 3 – digital with backlight;
  • 4 – multifunctional digital display.

The last number indicates the method of water supply. Numbers 3 and 4 – model with aquastop, 1 and 2 – without it.

The last two letters in the marking indicate the country for which the equipment was produced. For Russia and CIS countries this code is OE.

For which country was the Bosch washing machine produced, how to find out

The last two letters indicate the country or region for which the washing machine was manufactured. Don't be confused! This is not the country of manufacture, but specifically for which country the washing machine was made. You can find out where the washing machine is assembled from the serial number.

  • OE - washing machine for sale in the Russian Federation, Belarus, Ukraine.
  • EE - Spain, Portugal, Bosch shares European and Spanish markets
  • GB - Great Britain, a separate line of washing machines is also produced for the UK
  • EU - Europe (Eastern and Western) This includes all other countries in Europe.

Features of LG marking

LG is a Korean brand of electronics and home appliances popular all over the world. The marking of LG washing machines has its own characteristics, so when choosing equipment, this must be taken into account.

The marking code begins with the brand name - LG.

The next letter (F, E or M) indicates the front loading type.

Note! LG does not produce top-loading washing machines.

Then there are two numbers by which you can determine the maximum permissible spin speed. It is enough to multiply the indicated number by 100 (for example, the number 12 in the code means 1200 rpm).

The next two symbols indicate the design of the selected washing machine model. Designations 91, 96, A8, and so on may occur.

Next comes the letter that determines the depth of the case. There are the following models:

  • S – very narrow model (up to 35 cm), holding no more than 4 kg of laundry;
  • H, L, M, N – narrow models with a capacity of 5-7 kg;
  • F, T, B, W – standard models, with a depth of about 60 cm, holding 7-12 kg.

The next D in the code is basically the same for all modern washing machines and indicates direct drive.

In the case of built-in additional functions, two letters may appear at the end of the marking - H and S. The first indicates the built-in drying function, and the second indicates the steam processing function.

Bosch Series 6 washing machines: price

The cost of Bosch Series 6 washing machines cannot be called low, which, however, is not surprising. Firstly, equipment from this brand is always slightly more expensive than similar models from other manufacturers. Secondly, the modifications of the sixth series contain a lot of innovative technologies, for which you will have to pay.

Thus, the vertical model Bosch WOT24455 can be purchased at a price of 53 thousand rubles, the built-in WIW24340 can be purchased for 58 thousand, the relatively simple WLN24261 will cost at least 31 thousand, and one of the most expensive models of the WAT28740 series will cost 70 thousand rubles.

It should be noted that the prices given apply to models marked OE, that is, either produced in Russia or intended for sale on its territory. Models made in Western Europe can cost significantly more.

Samsung product labeling

Washing machines from the Korean company Samsung also include a marking code in the model name, which contains the basic parameters of the equipment.

The first two letters in the marking of Samsung machines are WW or WD. WW - designation of a front-loading machine, WD - washing machine with drying function.

The next two digits indicate the maximum allowable load of laundry. For example, the number 50 – 5 kg of laundry, 75 – 7.5 kg, 10 – 10 kg.

Next comes the letter designation, by which you can determine the year of manufacture of the model (it is the same for all Samsung equipment):

  • H – 2014
  • J – 2015
  • K – 2016
  • F – 2022.

The letter is followed by a number indicating the series of the model. The higher this number, the more functionality the machine has.

The following number in the marking makes it possible to find out the number of possible revolutions per minute:

  • 8 – 800;
  • 0 – 1000;
  • 2 – 1200 and so on.

The alphanumeric designation at the end of the code determines the design, color and other external characteristics of the selected model.

Tool color

The Germans were among the first to introduce a public division between professional and home instruments. Previously, and even now, most manufacturers distinguished household tools into a separate brand or identified some lines with less reliability and power.

Regarding Bosch power tools, separation in design has become a standard - and more often you can hear “green” instead of “home” and “blue” instead of professional, and not only from this manufacturer. Actually, the marking features begin with the color designation. By the way, there are more than two of them:

  • P - home or personal instrument, from the German persönlich, promoted under the thesis DIY - Do It Yourself, home crafts;
  • G – commercial or professional, from the German großtechnisch, “on an industrial scale”;
  • A - garden accessories (including chainsaws), by the way, also distinguished by the color of the plastic body - light green;
  • B and D - measuring instruments and accessories.

Battery life

One of the most important characteristics of a battery is the period during which it will work properly. Based on practice, Bosch products have different terms, ranging from 2 to 10 years. It all depends on how correctly the battery was used, under what conditions, and whether its condition was monitored at all.

Subject to normal maintenance and proper recharging, the average service life is 5 – 7 years.

If you take a battery that has never been used to start a car, you cannot confidently say that it is fully operational. Even if she gets a little drunk, she is still able to start the engine, but she will not be able to fully replenish the charge. To monitor the charge level, you will need a multimeter. And the more effective the battery care, the longer it lasts.
