The blender is one of the most common kitchen appliances. With good equipment, it performs the functions of a meat grinder, mixer, coffee grinder and takes up little space. The device simultaneously grinds and mixes any product. In this case, the grinding method depends on which attachment for the immersion blender is installed in the device. This can be cutting into cubes, strips, making purees or minced meat, mixing dough or whipping.
Types of nozzles
Blender attachments can be divided into submersible and stationary blender bowls. And according to their functions they are divided into three large classes:
- grinding (cutting);
- stirring;
- whippers.
Attachments can be of universal action, when, for example, in a chopper bowl you can mix batter for an omelette, and special ones - for kneading dough, crushing ice, and others.
Important! The price of a blender depends on its configuration. The more specific the nozzle, the higher the cost of the product. But over time, it is possible to equip the blender with special attachments, regardless of the manufacturer and model, since their mount is universal and suitable for any device.
Basic principles
- If the model is equipped with a turbo mode, it should be used carefully. It is not intended for long-term use. After 10-20 seconds of work, it is recommended to give the equipment a “rest”.
- Speed modes can be changed, but again, the higher the speed, the shorter the time of continuous operation of the device.
- If you have to chop large foods, such as meat, potatoes, beets, cut them with a kitchen knife. This will speed up the process.
- Before removing the attachment from the crushed product, be sure to turn it off. Otherwise, you risk splashing both yourself and the kitchen.
- It would be useful to read how to use the Polaris immersion blender in the instructions, as different recommendations may be given for different models.
Types of attachments for an immersion blender
An immersion blender is a blender whose attachment is inserted into a container of food, where grinding, mixing or whipping is carried out. It consists of a rubberized handle, inside of which there is a motor, and on the surface there are control buttons (on/off/speed change). Submersible nozzles are attached to the base handle.
- A blender leg is a chopper on a long (about 15 cm) metal rounded leg, at the bottom of which there are several small knives in the form of blades in the crown. Used for grinding vegetables and fruits, for example, when preparing smoothies.
- Whisks are frame or round type mixing devices. They are made from rods of thin elastic wire. Frame beaters are used for beating and mixing the dough until smooth, so that there are no lumps, and round beaters have a larger volume, which helps fill the whipped mass with air, making the product fluffy and tender, which is important for making creams.
- The hook attachment or S-shaped whisk is designed for mixing dense dough. It is made from stainless steel rods of a larger diameter than conventional whisks. The hook can withstand heavy loads, but is only suitable for powerful blenders, since its use requires a large amount of electrical energy.
- For making purees, there is also a leg that ends in a crown, which is a perforated surface. Through it, boiled vegetables are rubbed, and the puree becomes airy.
- The nozzle for vacuuming containers is used in conjunction with special trays. If air is pumped out of a tightly closed tray of food, then most microorganisms will not multiply inside, and, as a result, the shelf life of the food will increase significantly.
Important! The standard package includes only the blender foot.
Smart Stick Hand Blender with Adjustable Speed
This Cuisinart blender features a speed dial that lets you puree soup quickly without making a big mess. Start on low and slowly increase the speed to achieve a smooth, spatter-free puree. Despite the narrow blade guard and 300W motor, it was able to blend soup in about 60 seconds. We didn't feel any stubborn suction, making it easy to maneuver around the potty. He was having trouble blending his smoothie, with large chunks of fruit and ice remaining even after two minutes. It was one of the few in our tests with a safety feature: you have to press the "unlock" button to activate the trigger. The buttons were easy and comfortable to press while holding the narrow and ergonomic handle. It comes with a mixing jar, food processor, and whisk attachment that are dishwasher safe. There is no mixing attachment.
- Built-in security feature.
- The long stem is ideal for deep pots.
- Includes three attachments that are dishwasher safe.
- The blender attachment can only be washed by hand.
- The controls at the top mean two-handed operation.
Chopper bowl attachments
In grinder bowls, the cutting parts are located inside the container . It can be:
- chopper knives;
- graters;
- discs for slicing into thin slices;
- nozzle for cutting into cubes;
- ice crusher;
- nozzle for kneading dough;
- device for the formation of emulsions;
- juicer.
Stationary bowls have a fixed rod inside for fixing the nozzle, as well as a lid with an opening into which the housing with the motor is inserted. The rotation of the cutting edge is carried out by connecting the cover and the axis of the nozzle. The lid can be equipped with a loading channel, allowing you to add products during operation.
Steel chopper knives
They can be of various sizes, and are designed in the form of blades. When rotating, they grind products of any hardness, even nuts.
Grater inserts or fine slicing knives
These devices are made of stainless steel and are fixed in special holder disks, which are located inside the bowl. They are designed for producing small or large chips from various vegetables, fruits and cheeses, cutting noodles, as well as thin or fine cuts. The disadvantage of these attachments is their limited size. The cutting part is located segmentally, so sometimes the product remains in the bowl in large pieces.
Graters and knives for thin slicing
They can also be made in the form of steel discs, where the cutting elements cover the entire area of the disc. In this case, the cutting is carried out more completely.
Dicing attachment
The device consists of two main parts: the first is a mesh with square cells through which soft products are pressed, the second is rotating knives that cut off the pressed out part. It is not recommended to pass vegetables and fruits that are hard and contain a lot of seeds through such a nozzle.
Ice crusher
It allows you to get ice cubes and crumbs. The nozzle is made in the form of 4 blades located at different angles relative to the axis of rotation. One of the blades has teeth.
Juicer
To get freshly squeezed citrus juice, you can use a juicer - an inverted ribbed cone - in a bowl.
Dough attachments
Grinding bowls can also be used to knead dough of any thickness. For this, two types of devices are used: in the form of a plastic two-blade propeller (for dough with low viscosity) and a small metal hook rotating horizontally (for thick dough).
A nice addition to all attachments is the device for forming emulsions, which looks like a vertical spiral. The peculiarity of its operation is that the mass swirls into a whirlpool, and immiscible liquids are evenly distributed among each other. When using a whisk, air is also distributed between the two liquids being mixed, and the emulsion attachment prevents this.
Advice! Using the emulsion device it is convenient to prepare mayonnaise.
Electrical breakdowns
The knowledge gained at school in physics lessons will come to the rescue. You don’t need to have a brain and super gadgets. All you need is basic knowledge and a voltmeter.
Broken wire
Have you turned on the blender and received silence? Don't immediately run for a hammer and screwdriver. Start by checking the voltage in the outlet you need by connecting any working electrical appliance. Is the table lamp shining? Then check the cord:
- unplug from the outlet;
- ring the wire;
- use a screwdriver to disassemble the case;
- we find the power block where the wire is screwed;
- call, if there is no signal, change the wire;
- assemble and turn on.

Rules for using nozzles
Most blender attachments are made of stainless steel, so they are practically resistant to corrosion. However, even such parts require care and compliance with the rules of use.
- Match the nozzle to the blender model. Most attachment attachments fit many models. But it’s still worth buying them for a specific brand of device. This also has to do with power. If you put a thick dough attachment on a body with a weak motor, it may fail under heavy load.
- Before use, wash the parts thoroughly with warm water and detergent.
- Fasten the part strictly according to the instructions. Before turning it on, you should make sure the connection is secure.
- After work, carefully remove and disassemble the nozzle, remove the cutting inserts from the holders (if any).
- After each use, the attachments should be thoroughly washed with soapy water without abrasive particles, rinsed with cool water, and then wiped dry with a soft cloth.
- It is worth storing the nozzles separately, each in its own packaging, so that they do not cling to each other and do not violate the integrity of the surface. Scratches and chips can cause corrosion.
- Parts with signs of corrosion, as well as those broken during operation, should not be used.
A variety of attachments for blenders makes cooking as easy as possible, significantly reduces the time spent on it, and also makes the process enjoyable.
How to turn it on
Any blender runs on electricity. Points to pay attention to before starting work:
- If the device has been disassembled, before turning it on, make sure that all parts are well connected and screwed in.
- If the device has been previously washed, it should be allowed to dry before turning it on.
- Before turning on, load the contents into the stationary blender. If the model is submersible, lower it into the container where you plan to beat or chop the products.
- Be sure to select the required operating mode. The speed change button is located on the body or on the handle.
- You can start the device with one click on the Power button.
- Never leave the device running. After turning it on, monitor the work process.
