Building the perfect wardrobe: the pyramid rule

There are several ways to make sure that the things in your closets and chests of drawers always smell pleasant, literally soaking in your favorite aromas.

Home fragrances

The smell in a house characterizes the person living in it. Each apartment has a special smell. By the natural smell you can determine whether animals live in the house, people smoke, what they cook in the kitchen, or recently made renovations. Home fragrances mask natural odors. A large selection of flavors allows you to choose your own scent. Natural and chemical, floral and fruit, sprays, sachets, aroma oils, the choice is huge. You can also make your own home fragrance. There are many manufacturing options. Home fragrances create a unique atmosphere and mood in a room.

Popular fragrances

There are several main directions in which the smells of flavoring agents differ. By choosing a group of your favorite scents, it will be easier to decide on a specific one. All smells are divided into:

  • fruity - this includes numerous citrus aromas, apple, exotic fruits. These scents are not too sweet, have fresh notes and can give a summer mood even on gloomy autumn or winter days;
  • wood - perfect for a man's wardrobe. Discreet, tart, refreshing aromas that emphasize status, perfect for young business people;
  • conifers – the aroma of the forest invigorates and gives a feeling of freshness, perfect for lovers of tent holidays, reminiscent of a vacation during everyday work;
  • floral - scents for beautiful ladies that give a feeling of lightness, spring and summer, helping to remain feminine and graceful even in jeans or business trousers. The aroma of your favorite flowers can lift the mood of any girl;
  • green tea is an unobtrusive scent that reminds you of moments of relaxation with a cup of your favorite drink. Suitable for connoisseurs of airy aromas with a slight sourness;
  • berry - the smell of summer and fresh berries can lift your spirits at any time of the year and the weather outside the window. This scent will be appreciated by young girls and ladies who are always 18.

Among the popular scents, everyone can find a scent to their liking. If there is none among them, there is always the opportunity to make a flavoring yourself. This will allow you to create your own scent that will delight you and set the mood for the whole day from the very morning.

Home fragrance with sticks

Popular feng shui is known for the use of incense and fragrances. Home fragrance sticks are an integral part of Eastern culture. In most cases, incense sticks are made of bamboo and are soaked in oils and resins of aromatic plants. Such flavors are used in aromatherapy. They have a calming and tonic effect, promote relaxation and get rid of negative energy, give peace and harmony with oneself. The scents are different; for flavoring sticks, plants such as mint, cinnamon, vanilla, sandalwood, mandarin, ylang-ylang, lavender, and many others are used. The smell of incense sticks envelops the home space and lasts for quite a long time without fading.

Spices

Instead of sachets, many people use various spices. Very popular: cinnamon, cloves or vanilla.

Cinnamon sticks or cloves are also laid out in the closet, having previously been placed in bags made of organza.

With vanilla, the situation is even simpler: several holes are made in bags of vanilla and secured with tape to the wall of the chest of drawers. One sachet is enough to fill your entire closet with a sweet vanilla aroma.

How to make home fragrance with your own hands

There are quite a lot of instructions on how to make your own home fragrance. The ideas are simple and accessible to everyone and do not require much effort.

Citrus candle Cut an orange or lemon in half, remove the pulp, fill the citrus cup with the desired aroma oil, place the wick in the oil, light it and enjoy the aroma.

Candle with cinnamon scent Paste over a regular candle or tie it with cinnamon sticks. A lit candle will emit a cinnamon-spicy scent.

Fragrant soap

This method is used by many people because it is extremely simple and quite effective. You will need soap, but not just any soap, but a fragrant one, with a strong and bright perfume composition that you like.

Remove the soap from the packaging and place it in a muslin bag (to prevent the soap from staining your items). One bar is unlikely to be enough for an entire closet, so lay out several so that things are sure to be saturated with its aroma.

Instead of soap, some people use scented candles, but, as a rule, their scent is weaker and less lasting.

Laundry fragrance

Fragrances for linen are quite diverse, available in various forms, with a variety of smells. Linen that has been sitting in the closet for a long time may develop a musty smell. To prevent this, you can use special deodorant sprays for linen. You can buy them in stores, or you can make them yourself. To do this you need to have a spray bottle. Add a few drops of essential oil and a spoonful of vodka to a glass of clean water. Pour the resulting solution into a spray bottle and spray clean laundry. This fragrance can be sprayed on furniture, fabric upholstery or curtains.

You can also use scented laundry softeners for linens and clothes. This will give things not only a pleasant smell, but also softness. Air conditioners have different smells. Manufacturers produce hypoallergenic and children's products.

Method 4. Bottle of perfume

If you still have an empty bottle of your favorite perfume, do not throw it away, but put it in your laundry drawer without closing the bottle with a lid. This method is more suitable for drawers than for cabinets, because one bottle is not enough for a large area.

Cabinet Fragrances

To ensure that linens and clothes have a pleasant smell, closet fragrances are used. There are several types of such flavors: tablets, stickers, gel flavors, suspensions.

Laundry tablets Fragrance tablets can be made from wax, with the addition of artificial scent concentrates, aromatic oils, or dried herbs. They can be placed between folded laundry, in clothing pockets, or placed on shelves. They last quite a long time, requiring replacement after 2-3 months.

Stickers Scented stickers (stickers) are very convenient to use. It is necessary to separate the sticky layer from the base and stick the sticker on the inner wall of the cabinet. The service life of such flavors is about a month.

Gel fragrance Gel fragrance pads are small in size. They are attached inside the cabinet to shelves or walls using double-sided adhesive tape. They have distinct odors and the duration of use of the pads is approximately 3 months.

Simple room fresheners

  • Candle with orange. Cut the fruit into two parts, removing the pulp. Drop any scent into the melted wax. Strengthen the wick, fill the peel with wax.
  • Cinnamon candle. Select a candle and cover it with cinnamon sticks in a circle. When the glue dries, decorate it with ribbons or twine.

  • Fragrant wooden cubes. Apply the essential substance to the wood cubes with a brush. Place them in a closed container and leave overnight. In the morning you can enjoy a pleasant amber. Instead of cubes, you can use thin saw cuts.
  • Dry collection. In autumn, remove petals of different flowers from the garden and dry them in the oven. Mix them with herbs or spices and place them in a transparent vase on the table. You can use such mixtures for bathing.

Essential oil flavoring

In most cases, an aroma lamp is used as a flavoring agent using essential oils. An aroma lamp is a ceramic vessel into the cavity of which a small candle is placed. A burning candle heats the upper bowl of the aroma lamp, the water with added essential oil evaporates, aromatizing the air. Before you start using an aroma lamp, you need to be especially careful when choosing an essential oil. To begin, purchase a trial, light scent. Heavy and pungent odors can cause discomfort and headaches. The most suitable scents for first use are orange blossom essential oils; this aroma is believed to improve mood and relax. Lemon oil smells fresh, reduces headaches, improves emotional state. Ylang-ylang is able to increase the production of endorphins (pleasure hormones) and is an aphrodisiac. Coniferous odors have healing properties, disinfect the air, and strengthen the immune system. Aggressive aromas include essential oils of jasmine, cloves, rosemary, and basil.

How to get rid of unpleasant odor

If the bedding in the toilet smells bad, wash it again, dry it thoroughly and follow the recommendations described above. Some rules for caring for linen:

  1. When washing bedding, do not use fabric softener with an unpleasant odor. To get rid of the unpleasant odor, you can add salt and powder or a little hydrogen peroxide.
  2. After washing, dry the laundry thoroughly, preferably in the open air;
  3. Iron your bed linen at the highest possible temperature or use steam mode;
  4. After ironing, let the laundry dry; it is important not to fold the items immediately, because even the slightest amount of moisture remaining in the fabric will subsequently lead to the formation of an unpleasant odor.

DIY fragrance made from essential oils

You can make your own essential oil flavoring. Homemade flavors are not inferior in their effectiveness to store-bought ones.

An easy and simple way to make felt fragrance. 1) It is necessary to cut out a small piece of felt and soak it in essential oil. Hang by a string in any desired location. 2) Add a little water, a few drops of glycerin, and 5-6 drops of essential oil to a jar filled with soda. Cover tightly with foil with holes and place where you want. 3) Fill small glass jars with the gelatin mass with a few drops of aromatic oil. the flavoring is ready as soon as the gelatin hardens.

A very simple option for preparing a fragrance from oil is to moisten a cotton pad with essential oil and place it on the heating radiator. It will smell fragrant for about two days.

Ventilation and cleaning

Like all our homes, closets also need periodic cleaning. This is a surefire way to not only get rid of bad odors, but also prevent their occurrence.

  1. First, we take out everything that is stored in the closet. Then we wipe it and ventilate the things in the fresh air. This should be done at least once every 3-4 months (preferably more often).
  2. Cabinets and other enclosed spaces (closets, chests of drawers, closed shelves) need to be ventilated periodically. It’s even better to do this at the same time as ventilating the entire room.
  3. After taking out your clothes and hanging them in the fresh air, open the closet doors wide. And leave it for several hours.
  4. If there is a strong musty odor, take additional measures. Wet a large bath towel, twist it and hang it in an empty cabinet for about 1 hour. Close the doors tightly. After the required time has passed, the towel should be washed and hung in the closet again. Repeat this procedure 3-4 times.

Water based

The peculiarity of such products is that in order for the aroma to be felt, the mixture must be hot. USB drink warmers, fondue pots or regular radiators are suitable.

An example of creating such a product:

  1. The lemon is cut into circles and placed in a jar.
  2. Add vanilla extract (a few drops) and rosemary (a couple of sprigs).
  3. The container is filled with purified water and placed in the heater.

This fragrance can also humidify the air in the room.
