How to stuff a pillow with padding polyester
To prevent your neck from hurting during use, you need to place the “filling” in accordance with certain rules. It is important to know how the padding polyester is distributed inside the cover correctly, how much material to stuff in and how to prepare it.
The filling principle depends on the type of padding polyester. If you purchased sheet material, then it is enough to fold the sheet 3-4 times and cut out the blank. The figure must correspond to the parameters of the pillowcase.
Stuffing the pillow with padding polyester
Sintepon, which is scraps, must be laid gradually, filling the space from the bottom of the pillowcase to the top. You need to prepare identical scraps of material in advance, and only then start laying. After stuffing, you need to lie down on the workpiece and evaluate the level of comfort. If necessary, you can add or remove excess. Afterwards it remains to sew up the left hole.

Note! During use, the material will become confused and crumpled, so it is important to prepare it correctly. How to fluff padding polyester? You need to ruffle the pieces of workpieces, separating the fibers as much as possible.
How can you replace synthetic winterizer?
Sintepon can be replaced with a lot of other fillers. The choice depends on the further functionality of the home textile item. Options for replacing padding polyester:
- can be stuffed with pieces of fur or soft cloth;
- sometimes cotton wool is used;
- the best alternative is holofiber or foam rubber;
- silicone balls can become the basis for creating an orthopedic pillow;
- for sleeping, the product is filled with buckwheat husk;
- down and feathers are an allergenic option, but are considered classics.
For your information! Cotton wool wears out quickly, rolls into balls, and clumps into lumps. Unsightly creases appear on the surface.
Substitute for padding polyester
In any case, the pillow should have an attractive appearance and be comfortable. When choosing a “filling”, you should think in advance about how to care for such material in the future.
A little history and magic
But it was not always so. Initially, pillows were large stones that were placed under heads to maintain hairstyles while sleeping.
The first soft pillows first appeared in Ancient Greece, where local sybarites basked in bed almost 24 hours a day.
A little later, pillows began to be considered magical objects. Until now, girls tell fortunes about their betrothed with the help of this simple object. And small bags of fragrant herbs, hidden in the pillow, are designed to ward off evil spirits and attract the most pleasant dreams, reduce headaches and speed up recovery on days of illness.
Decoration methods
Decorative pillowcases are often decorated with additional elements, such as embroidery or appliqué, frills or lace, beads and other elements. Elements can be fixed before the product is manufactured or after. Markings for decorations are applied to the outside of the product, then hidden or washed off after decoration is completed.
If you wish, you can also decorate pillowcases purchased at the store.
In addition to standard decoration methods, pillowcases for sofa cushions can initially be sewn from scraps of fabric, which will replace the appliqué effect. This method is more complex, but also economical. You can use unnecessary pieces of fabric or swatches from other products.
To make such a pillowcase, you need to make a pattern, attach scraps of fabric to it, and baste them. You can sew them together either by hand or by machine.
Decorative pillowcases can also be made from any old material, such as a torn shirt or jeans. This will also allow you to create a unique product design.
In the photo of pillowcases you can see different decoration options.
What tools will you need?
Tools are prepared in relation to what the design element will be made of and what shape it will be. If you want to knit a base, then, of course, you will need knitting needles or a hook and yarn. For decoration the following will come in handy:
- Needle, thread, sewing machine;
- Paper, tracing paper or cardboard for the diagram;
- Chalk or soap, a special pencil;
- Scissors.
It is important that the color of the pillow matches the overall design of the room.
Uncover
The round product has an extremely simple pattern - it is made in the shape of a perfect circle with exactly the same diameter as a rattan chair.
The Papasan wicker chair has a standard diameter of 150 cm. You will need a piece of material 150 by 300 cm for one pillowcase. The size of the decorative pillowcase is selected 1-3 cm larger than the inner cover.
So, if the chair was already sold with a pillow, take it and draw an outline on the fabric.
If you are sewing from scratch, measure the diameter of the seat with a flexible tape, and draw a circle of the desired diameter on the wrong side of the fabric. Use regular chalk, a bar of soap, or a simple pencil and ruler, operating them like a compass.
When cutting, step back a couple of centimeters from the given outline - this will be the seam allowance. Cut two pieces for each pillowcase.
Necessary materials
To sew a pillowcase you will need:
- Textile,
- Matching threads
- Pencil for a pattern (you can use chalk),
- Centimeter,
- Sewing machine or needle,
- Decorative elements if you want to add them.
When purchasing fabric, keep in mind that the fabric measured in the store may be uneven or have unraveled edges. Therefore, be sure to add 5 to 15 centimeters to the required dimensions. It is better to purchase threads together with the fabric so that the color matches exactly.
Pillowcases
Creating a pillowcase is the final stage of making a pillow.
For products intended to decorate a room, they try to match them to the color of the finish or use them to create bright accent spots. Such pillows boast embroidery, direct and reverse appliqué, lace, tassels, and fringe.
Sleeping pillows are usually dressed in simple pillowcases made from natural materials.
Making a pillow at home is not at all difficult, but the finished craft will bring many pleasant moments and can become a lovely piece of decor or a nice gift.
