Making slime: how to make a toy without glue, from soap, with toothpaste, safe for your baby, and others?

Hello friends, I think you came to this article for a reason, you are probably looking for something to add to soap to make slime, I hope you love making slimes as much as I do, and this article will be useful to you because in it we will look at 12 recipes for slimes from soap and we will understand whether they are worth your time.

The fact is that you send a lot of slime recipes with different ingredients and we thought, what if we collect all the soap slime recipes in one article? This will save you a lot of time and you won’t have to run around different sites or watch hours of videos on YouTube.

I also received a lot of requests in the mail to make slime from soap and salt, so I want to answer this question. Making slime from soap and salt is impossible!!!

Made from soap without tetraborate and glue

Components:

  1. 50 g. rose soap;
  2. 3 tbsp. l. water;
  3. 1 tsp liquid soap (Johnson's Baby hand cream or body lotion);
  4. 2 tbsp. l. potato starch;
  5. 6 tbsp. l. shaving foam;
  6. a pinch of baking soda;
  7. 1 tbsp. l. solution for contact lenses;
  8. dye.

The basis of the future slime will be rose soap, fill them with warm water and mix until smooth so that there are no lumps left. Next, you will need any liquid soap, if there is no soap, replace it with johnson's baby hand cream or body lotion, mix thoroughly. The next ingredient is potato starch, which is not expensive and can be purchased at the grocery store. You can replace the starch with baby powder or use cornstarch and mix until smooth.

Add shaving foam; if you don’t have shaving foam at home, you can make it from water and shampoo. Next, paint the slime any color. To thicken the slime, add a pinch of baking soda and contact lens liquid; this activator works very well when paired with soda. Add the thickener gradually and do not forget to stir.

When the slime begins to come away from the walls of the dish, take it in your hands and knead it for 2-3 minutes. As an additive for slime, you can add decorative balls or glitter. Hurray, our airy fluffy slime is ready, it’s so fluffy and fun to squeeze with your hands.

What to do if nothing works out?

When creating slime, the following problems often arise:

  1. The toy does not stick. To do this, you need to drain the excess water from the mass, and then add a binder (glue, shaving foam, etc.) to the composition.
  2. Too sticky. In this case, you will need to add liquid starch or water (depending on the selected recipe).
  3. Too slippery. You need to add glycerin to the slime.
  4. Too soft. This consistency indicates excess water. To achieve the desired condition, it is recommended to add a small amount of salt to the slime and place the toy in a container with a closed lid for 12 hours.
  5. Not soft enough. By analogy with the previous recommendation, instead of salt, a small amount of water is added to the container.
  6. The size is insufficient. To make the slime larger, the slime must be kept in a container of water for three hours. After this (if the mass falls apart), you need to add salt and hand cream.

If desired, you can add essential oil or vanillin to the finished composition. Thanks to this, the toy will acquire a pleasant aroma.

Made from two ingredients: soap and flour

Simple recipe:

  1. 2-3 tbsp. spoons of liquid soap;
  2. 5-6 tbsp. spoons of flour;
  3. dye.

To begin with, take any liquid soap and add 2-3 tablespoons to the dishes, cover it all with six tablespoons of flour. Mix thoroughly as usual. For beauty, take some dye and color the slime. And now our flour slime is ready; it is made very quickly, and also dries quickly, but you can easily make a new one, in about 5 minutes.

Salty slime

There is another very simple recipe for chewing gum for hands. You will need soap from the store in a plastic container, salt, and dye. To conveniently mix the ingredients, take a deep bowl, preferably glass, to which the resulting mixture does not stick.

Pour 3 teaspoons of any soap into a bowl and add enough salt to thicken the consistency when kneading for about 5 minutes. Use a wooden spatula, but if you don't have it, a regular spoon will do.

Then add a pinch of dry food coloring and continue kneading with your hands. You need to roll the mass each time with the outer edges inward.

Place the bowl of slime in the refrigerator (not the freezer) for 30 minutes. After cooling, continue kneading the slime. The toy will turn out to be spreading and will quickly melt in your hands. Therefore, you won’t be able to enjoy the game for a long time. But for a child, 10 minutes of this activity is usually enough, after which you put the toy back in the refrigerator.

From soap and film mask

Proven recipe:

  • 30 ml water;
  • 30 ml liquid soap;
  • mask film (approximately 50 ml);
  • sodium tetraborate.

Pour clear liquid soap or shampoo into the container, mix the same amount of water. After the entrance comes a film mask and a thickener. You will get a white slime with air bubbles, put it in a container and leave it for 2-3 days until it becomes transparent.

Rules for storing slime

Homemade slime has a short shelf life, but you can extend its service life if you follow the following rules:

  1. Store the toy in any tightly closed container at a temperature of +1...+5 degrees, for example, in the refrigerator.
  2. Do not keep the slime in the open sun.
  3. Do not leave slime on the sofa, floor or other surfaces that will cause it to become covered with lint or sand.

Important! Suitable containers for storing slime include medicine jars with a screw-on lid, a processed cheese container, or a zip-lock bag.

How to properly care?

The rules for caring for slime are as follows:

  • if the slime has lost its elasticity, you should add a little glycerin, 2-3 drops of vinegar or hand cream to it, and then knead it well;
  • once every 2 days, add a couple of grains of salt into the container with the slime, close the lid, shake and leave for several hours, and then knead the toy;
  • if the toy is covered with dirt, then it must be washed in a bowl of warm water without using soap;
  • Slime that has lost its elasticity and sticks strongly to your hands can be quickly dealt with using 2-3 drops of sodium tetraborate, which should be thoroughly mixed into the sticky mass.

After adding sodium tetraborate, giving slime to children under three years of age is prohibited, as they may taste it and become poisoned.

With just a few simple ingredients you can make an unusual, exclusive slime within 20 minutes, especially if you add glitter to it, in addition to dye. The main thing is to comply with the storage conditions, and then the toy will delight your children for quite a long time.

From soap and glue

Components:

  1. 7 tbsp. l. PVA glue;
  2. 4 tbsp. l. liquid soap;
  3. ½ tsp. sodium tetraborate;
  4. dye or glitter as desired.

Pour liquid soap and PVA glue into the container, mix it all thoroughly, you can add glitter and paint it any color. Then gradually add sodium tetraborate until the slime begins to thicken, remove the slime from the bowl and knead it with your hands until ready.

Which soap is suitable

Soap slime will quickly deteriorate if low-quality ingredients are used. To make a toy, it must contain 2 basic components:

  • Polysaccharide or other polymers (glue, film mask). They are hydrophilic, so the slime acquires the properties of a non-Newtonian liquid. Its density depends on the speed of external influence. The higher the speed, the greater the density of the material.
  • Thickener (borax, lens fluid, glycerin with sodium tetraborate). Thickener molecules increase the viscosity of the liquid component. Thanks to this, the slime is elastic, elastic and pliable.

When choosing soap, you need to consider several basic parameters:

  • Consistency. Only thick soap is suitable for slime. If it is too liquid, the toy will not take the desired shape.
  • Compound. If children will play with slime, it is advisable to buy soap with a minimum content of surfactants. They consist of salts of various acids and metals, and are therefore very toxic.
  • Color. To prepare an unusual glowing or shiny slime with additional components, it is better to use colorless soap.

To make slime, you don't have to use expensive products. Thick dishwashing liquid or hand soap will work as a base.

From liquid soap

What you need for slime:

  1. 6 pumps of liquid soap;
  2. 30 ml water;
  3. 100 ml PVA glue;
  4. 1 teaspoon sodium tetraborate;
  5. glitter;
  6. dye.

Pour liquid soap into a container, add a few drops of acrylic paint, add water, and mix thoroughly until the mass is homogeneous. We use tetraborate thickener or liquid starch. After the slime begins to come off the wall of the dish, leave it on the table for 3 hours and then knead it in your hands for 2-3 minutes.

Cooking precautions

To prepare slimes, components are often used that provoke allergic reactions upon contact with the mucous membranes of the mouth or eyes. Toxic components include:

  • sodium tetraborate;
  • boric acid;
  • sealants;
  • silicone glue.

If soap, glue or other synthetic components get into your eyes, rinse the mucous membrane with running water. In case of eye irritation, consult an ophthalmologist.

To prevent negative consequences, you need to:

  • stop using toxic components;
  • avoid rubbing your eyes while playing with slime;
  • wash your hands with soap after playing.

Some slime recipes use liquid glass as the main component. This is a mineral compound that causes an alkaline reaction, which is dangerous due to burns. Therefore, it is strictly not recommended to use it for making children's toys.

From liquid soap and toothpaste

Ingredients for slime:

  1. 3 tbsp. spoons of ordinary tap water;
  2. 1/2 teaspoon of liquid soap (you can take shower gel or shampoo);
  3. 6 tbsp. PVA glue;
  4. 1 tbsp. shaving foam;
  5. a little bit of toothpaste (1 pea);
  6. sodium tetraborate;
  7. food coloring.

First, pour 3 tablespoons of ordinary tap water into the dishes, add ½ teaspoon of liquid soap and mix it all, and you can even beat it until foam forms.

Let's put a little toothpaste, this is so that the slime stretches, if we add too much foam to the slime it will look like an airy lump, but we need it to stretch, so we add a little toothpaste.

After we add the coloring, I add dry food coloring, but you can add any coloring you have, mix everything. And now we add 6 spoons of working glue here, I add buromax pva glue. Mix all this until smooth. Now we add shaving foam a little at a time, then a thickener - sodium tetraborate, or naphthyzine with soda, liquid for contact lenses, but I would not recommend boric acid and liquid washing powder because they dry out your hands.

Stir until the slime begins to stick from the walls of the dish, and now our airy slime is ready; it crunches well, stretches and clicks. Hooray!!!

Adding Flavor

Flavorings are divided into cosmetic and food. Cosmetics are also called “fragrances”. They consist exclusively of synthetic artificial components. Please note that this number also includes strong-smelling fragrances used for automotive products and household chemicals. Of course, they are more caustic and aggressive.

An elastic toy should not be created using caustic or artificial fragrances.

In contact with the skin, a person experiences unpleasant itching and allergic reactions. The body, which cannot tolerate artificial flavors and synthetic substances, becomes covered with itching and red rashes that spoil the aesthetic appearance.

Even if a person is allergic to just one component in the composition, it is still not suitable. The toy can cause harm to those who make it and those who use it. The health issue here is very serious. The cosmetic alternative is less harmful to use and more popular in the market. Any scent you like!

The safest flavorings are food grade. Choose a liquid form rather than a gel or dry form. In online stores selling elastic toys, there is an assortment of food flavorings for every taste:

  • peanut butter;
  • wavy toffee;
  • cake cream;
  • cappuccino;
  • caramel candy;
  • cheesecake;
  • cinnamon roll;
  • coconut;
  • strawberry;
  • apple;
  • boiled condensed milk.

Taste is a serious argument for quickly moving from words to action!

From soap and water

Slime ingredients:

  1. 1 teaspoon of laundry soap;
  2. 50 ml warm water;
  3. ½ tsp. shampoo;
  4. 1 teaspoon of office glue and PVA;
  5. Pemos washing gel;
  6. soda.

Pour ½ tsp into the bowl. any shampoo, add a pinch of soda, then add 1 tsp. PVA glue and 1 tsp. stationery transparent glue.

Let's take another container, pour some warm water here and dissolve 1 teaspoon of laundry soap in it (it needs to be crumbled).

Now we’ll pour this water into the first container, where the glue and slime should begin to curl. If it doesn't thicken, add another pinch of baking soda, and if that doesn't help, add Pemos washing gel.

Afterword

Having begun their victorious journey around the world, slimes enchant children and adults with their variety of properties and internal qualities. At home, in addition to dye, you can add glitter, beads, and colored powder to slimes. You can pour slime into bottles and play funny pranks. Inventions like slimes relieve stress for adults, give children a unique palette of emotions and make them look at the world around us in brighter colors.

Store slimes only in sealed containers, otherwise the components will erode and the slime will quickly dry out, making it unsuitable for play.

From soap and soda

What to make slime from:

  1. 2 tsp. liquid soap;
  2. 4 tsp. PVA glue moment joiner;
  3. 1 pea of toothpaste;
  4. a pinch of soda;
  5. dye.

First, add liquid soap and PVA glue to the container, also add a little toothpaste, mix everything thoroughly so that the slime turns out beautiful, add a little dye and mix everything again.

Then add a little soda at a time, if there is not enough, add a little more soda to thicken the glue. You can use any transparent or PVA glue, but the main thing is that it is thick and workable.

And now you should get a slime that stretches, crunches, and has a very elastic texture. This is one of the best recipes without sodium tetraborate, without Persil gel, without Teymurov spray. I advise everyone to try making this slime at home.

Possible problems and solutions

The viscous toy is afraid of sun and air exposure. If it is made of water and flour, it will dry out quickly in the near future. Store it in a closed container in the refrigerator. The slime should not be on fleecy material or in contact with dirty and dusty objects. Do not put it in your mouth or rub your eyes or face with it. You should wash your hands after playing.

Sodium tetraborate is strictly not suitable for recreational purposes. In 2022, Which, the UK consumer watchdog, found high levels of toxic and harmful boron in eight out of eleven sticky products. Sodium tetraborate is included in cosmetics and detergents, including liquid products, and prolonged contact causes eye irritation, redness and rash on the body, and allergic reactions.

The dishes must be strictly separate for modeling. It's not safe to eat from it! Buy a set of dishes in advance with a box on which you should indicate the purpose of the service. Give it a separate place, do not leave it with the rest of the dishes in the kitchen set. Choose a room that is slightly cool so as not to inhale unsafe fragrances. Ventilate the room beforehand.

Attention! The correct slime should be easy to get out of the container so that you don’t have to tear it off.

Otherwise, add water and stir again. However, if there is too much liquid and the Velcro slips off, you should add a little glue or flour.

  • 3 tsp. shampoo;
  • 10 tbsp. l. Sahara;
  • 1 tsp. water;
  • 3 pinches of soda.

How to cook at home

Homemade slime recipes are in great demand among children who have a craving for making something on their own with their own hands. Making toys yourself is really very interesting. Homemade slime will not last long, but it will bring a lot of joy.

To prepare it, collect all suitable materials around the house, according to the recipe, take a spoon or wooden stick. You will also need a mixing container.

How should a slime behave?

From laundry soap

Following the recipe:

  • the bar of laundry soap is divided into 4 parts (¼ part is needed);
  • take 50 g of hot water;
  • you need silicate glue (purchased at an office supply store);
  • buy boric acid (1 teaspoon) at the pharmacy.

Further:

  1. The soap is grated on a fine grater and poured with hot water, stirring until completely dissolved with a spoon or wooden stick.
  2. After dissolving the soap, add boric acid to the resulting substance.
  3. Without stopping stirring, silicate glue is gradually added. You cannot empty the entire tube at the same time.
  4. Put on gloves and stir the resulting mass with your hands.

If everything is done correctly, they knead the Velcro with their hands for some more time, and then try to stretch it. The finished slime from liquid soap stretches quite well and does not burst. In order for the toy to last longer than usual, it must be moistened with water daily.

With hand cream

The quality of the slime depends on the composition of the cream. There are creams containing glycerin, vegetable and animal fats, petroleum jelly, silicone and essential oils. These components can be included in the composition of the substance, either individually or in groups of several ingredients.

To prepare slime, use thick hand creams and cologne. Selected cream:

  1. Squeeze out of the tube into a container.
  2. Add 2-3 drops of triple cologne to it.
  3. Mix everything with a stick or skewer.

As soon as the slime becomes thick, take it into your hands and knead it, stretching and kneading it for 15-20 minutes.

Important! If the Velcro is too thick, add a few more drops of cologne.

White slime with glitter

From soap and toilet paper

To create slime take:

  • 20 cm of soft multi-layer toilet paper (you can use napkins or paper towels);
  • liquid soap - 1-2 tbsp. spoons;
  • film mask - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • nail polish - 5-6 drops (colored polish is suitable);
  • soda;
  • 0.5 tsp Levomycetin (found in eye drops).

The step-by-step process for creating Velcro looks like this:

  1. The paper is crushed and poured into soap, allowing it to dissolve. A foam should form.
  2. Nail polish is added as a dye.
  3. After mixing the varnish and the mass of paper and soap, add a film mask and soda.
  4. As soon as all the components dissolve in each other, they begin to add Levomycetin drop by drop. This drug acts as a thickener.

The slime is considered ready after peeling off from the bottom and sides of the container. Take it in your hands and knead it for about 10-15 minutes.

Slime made from soap and salt

For slime you need 5 tbsp. spoons of soap or shampoo and 1 teaspoon of salt. To be sure, sometimes add another 1 teaspoon of soda. But it should work without this component. You will have to knead longer than usual.

The quality depends on the composition of the soap. The disadvantage of slime made from soap and salt is that it quickly loses its sticky properties. To extend the life of the toy, it is left in a mixture of water, hand cream and a pinch of salt for 12 hours.

Anything suitable for slime

From soap and sugar

To prepare slime you will need:

  • 2 tbsp. Sahara;
  • 1 tsp. soap;
  • 1 tsp. water;
  • 0.5 tsp soda;
  • 3 tsp. shampoo.

Amount of ingredients may vary. To make the slime sticky, the components are mixed with each other gradually:

  2. Add water to the foam and mix everything.
  3. Add sugar, dividing the specified amount into portions.
  4. Place the finished slime in the refrigerator for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Add soda to the cooled mass and mix.

Attention! If the Velcro turns out to be liquid, add more soda and knead longer than the first time.

With PVA glue

To obtain Velcro from soap and PVA glue, take:

  • 0.5 bottles of glue;
  • 3 tbsp. l. soap;
  • 0.5 tsp sodium tetraborate.

Varnish or food coloring is suitable for coloring. All components, in addition to sodium tetraborate, are mixed, kneading for about 15 minutes. Sodium tetraborate is needed for thickness; it is added to the homogeneous mass. The finished soap slime is kneaded in your hands to the desired consistency.

From soap and shampoo

You will need:

  • soap - 50 ml;
  • PVA glue - 10 tbsp. l;
  • shaving foam - 10 tbsp. l;
  • shampoo - 8 tbsp. l;
  • light plasticine - 1 sachet.

First, mix foam and glue. Pour shampoo and soap into the resulting thick mass and mix. The last ingredient is plasticine. It is added to a well-foamed mixture. Next, knead everything with your hands until you get a sticky and stretchy substance.

Kneading Velcro with a stick

Recipe with soda

Mix soap and wood glue in a container. Baking soda is a thickening agent. It is added to the container after the mixture has acquired a uniform shade. 2 tsp is enough. soap and 4 tsp. glue. You need very little soda - about 0.5 tsp. For thickness, toothpaste is also added. You will have to knead for 25-35 minutes.

Slime recipe with starch

You need to take:

  • soap - 2 tbsp. l;
  • acrylic pigment - 0.5 tsp;
  • starch - 35-40 g;
  • baby oil for skin care - 1-2 tsp.

The soap must be mixed with dye and starch, stirring constantly. The oil is added after 10-12 minutes of intensive kneading.

Attention! The finished slime is kneaded in your hands for another 25-30 minutes.

From soap and flour

2 tbsp. l. soap mixed with 5 tbsp. l. flour. Next, dye and baby oil are added to care for the skin.

Knead everything by hand for 20-25 minutes. The amount of flour is approximate. If desired, you can do without dye.

You can use any oil, the main thing is that it has the necessary astringent properties.

Air plasticine, foam and soap

With shampoo

Mix equal amounts of shampoo and shower gel in a container. Add salt to the mixture (1 pinch is enough) and place in a cold place for 20 minutes, after kneading everything thoroughly.

Slime is also stored in the refrigerator. This helps extend its lifespan.

With dishwashing liquid

Liquid soap is mixed with dishwashing gel (equal proportions - 2 tbsp.):

  • add a little glue (about 60 ml);
  • knead everything;
  • add baking soda (1 pinch);
  • pour in 0.5 tsp. Levomycetin.

The slime needs to be kneaded with your hands.

For reference! It turns out colorless, but this can be easily corrected with dye.

Velcro from PVA glue and dish soap

No glue with cosmetics

It’s difficult to make Velcro without glue, but it’s worth experimenting with. You will need:

  • cosmetic soap - 30 g;
  • water - 2 tbsp. l;
  • body lotion - 1 tbsp. l;
  • starch - 2 tbsp. l;
  • shaving foam - 6 tbsp. l;

  • gouache;
  • soda;
  • lens solution.

The thick and sticky mass is kneaded by hand.

From a film mask without glue

I mix soap with water in equal quantities (3 tablespoons each) and a film mask (30 ml). Knead everything by hand.

Sodium tetraborate is used as a thickener. 2 drops are enough.

The finished slime is placed in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

This is interesting! If everything is done correctly, it will seem as if the result is not a slime, but a piece of glass.

Slime without glue or thickener

Without sodium tetraborate

Chemical-free slime is almost safe. Corn starch is used as a thickener. 2 tbsp. l. shower gel for children is mixed with the same amount of starch, kneading the mixture with your hands for 20 minutes. The slime is painted. Easter egg dye is suitable for this.

To make the toy more elastic, add 1-2 drops of water.

From soap and shampoo

The cooking process will take a long time to turn the liquid and light plasticine into slime.

Proven recipe:

  1. 10 tbsp. l. PVA glue;
  2. 4 tbsp. l. liquid soap;
  3. 10 tbsp. l. shaving foam;
  4. 8 tbsp. l. shampoo;
  5. 2 packs of light plasticine;
  6. 1-2 teaspoons of a solution of water and soda.

Add PVA glue, shaving foam, shampoo and liquid soap to the container, mix everything. Afterwards you need to add light plasticine. Mixing it all with a spoon will not work; you need to dip the plasticine into the container with liquid ingredients and knead it all with your hands. After you knead the plasticine, add 1-2 teaspoons of a solution of water and soda.

How to store soap slime

When properly stored, soap slimes “live” for more than 1 week. To protect the toy from drying out, it is recommended:

  • store slime in a plastic container with an airtight lid;
  • dip the slime in the soap solution for 1-2 minutes if the mass thickens;
  • leave the toy in the refrigerator overnight.

If you follow the recommendations, the finished slime can be stored for more than 5 days. The toy absorbs dust, so with frequent play it loses its elasticity over time. But even if this happened, preparing a new slime will not take much time.

To ensure that the child does not lose interest in the toy, you need to experiment with the composition. If desired, it can be made absolutely transparent or luminous, multi-colored or monochrome, dense or viscous.

From soap and toilet paper

Ingredients:

  1. 15-20 cm paper;
  2. 15-30 ml of liquid soap;
  3. 30 gr. film masks;
  4. ½ teaspoon of Levomycetin eye drops;
  5. food coloring;
  6. a pinch of soda.

This is a very simple recipe for airy slime without glue. We will need toilet paper, unusual toilet paper, and two-layer, you can use a napkin. We tear toilet paper into pieces into a container, then fill it with liquid soap or thick shampoo or shower gel, and carefully mix everything, even beat it into foam, we should get an airy mass.

Add dye, regular watercolor paint or food coloring of any color. Next, add the main ingredient - a film mask. If you don’t have a film mask, add PVA glue and mix everything thoroughly.

Add a pinch of soda and use Levomycetin eye drops as a thickener, the mass will immediately begin to coagulate. At this point, you need to stir slowly because the slime will foam too much, and we don’t want that. It is necessary that it remains airy, and then knead by hand it should turn out very beautiful and airy, like a cloud.

Why won't there be slime without the flour component?

Flour is rightfully considered one of the most accessible components for creating slimes. Any slimer will tell you this. The hand toy created on its basis is very pleasant to the touch. And although such a slime cannot stretch, it is a pleasure to knead it.

It is simply impossible to spoil gum for hands made from flour, even if you choose the wrong proportions of the components. You can always add a little bulk or liquid ingredient. If the slime sticks to your palms, add a little more flour.

The type of product used to create slime does not matter. But if you are looking for a budget and popular option, then it is best to opt for wheat flour. Without this baking product, you won’t be able to knead slime, because it is the basis of a homemade toy.

From soap and dishwashing liquid

What you need for slime:

  • 15-30 ml soap;
  • 15 ml detergent;
  • 60 ml PVA glue;
  • a pinch of baking soda;
  • ½ teaspoon Levomycytin eye drops.

To make slime, pour PVA glue into a container, add liquid soap and beat it all into a foam, then add dishwashing liquid and continue whisking. Add a pinch of baking soda and Levomycetin eye drops. The mass will begin to thicken, and you will get a nice, airy slime.

Recipe

The flour slime recipe is almost universal, it will never let you down. A small amount of ingredients will pleasantly surprise you. Flour gum for hands can be made with the addition of shampoo, shower gel, shaving foam, etc. We present to your attention the simplest and most budget-friendly recipe made from wheat flour and liquid hand soap.

Required components and their proportions

In order to prepare a fun children's toy you will need:

  • 50 g wheat flour;
  • 50 ml liquid hand soap;
  • 5 g of liquid food coloring (this component is added if you want to add color to the toy).

Wheat flour for making slime must be sifted, without lumps or foreign impurities. Do not under any circumstances skimp or put into production a product in which bugs are found. Even if you manage to select all the insects, their waste products will lead to early spoilage of the finished slime.

Hand soap should have a thick consistency. Otherwise, the slime will not hold its shape at all, spreading over the surface and slipping out of the palms. Do not buy soap with a large amount of surfactants (surfactants), they are toxic, which will be very harmful to the child’s body.

Important! If you are going to create a glowing or shiny toy, then purchase clear soap.

Step-by-step instructions: how to do it?

As soon as you have prepared the required number of components, you can safely proceed directly to creating the slime. Step-by-step instructions on how to make chewing gum for hands from liquid soap and flour:

  1. Prepare a clean and dry container.
  2. Have a spoon for stirring the mixture.
  3. Pour liquid soap into the container.
  4. If you decide to create colored slime, add some food coloring.
  5. Next, gradually add wheat flour, mixing the product thoroughly.
  6. Knead the slime thoroughly until the mass is completely homogeneous.
  7. The toy is ready.

At the initial stages, the slime will look more like ordinary baking dough, but after a couple of minutes it will take on the appearance and characteristics of high-quality plasticine.

Soap bubble slime

What to make slime from:

  1. half a jar of soap bubbles;
  2. 1 tsp. shampoo;
  3. 3 tsp. PVA glue;
  4. 2 tsp. thickener (Teymurov spray, eye drops, etc.)

Method of making slime

Pour liquid soap bubbles into a container with now liquid soap and mix gently, but do not whip into foam. Add any working glue, PVA glue or transparent stationery glue, it doesn’t matter, the main thing is that it is thickened with an activator and again mix everything thoroughly, without whipping it into foam. When we have mixed everything, add any activator you have, also called a thickener, anything sodium tetraborate, boric acid, naphthysine with soda, liquid for contact lenses, liquid washing powder.

In this recipe, the thickener will be Teymurov spray. When the slime is ready, you can blow it through a straw.

Slime just doesn’t work out: common mistakes

There are often cases when slimes with liquid soap do not work out. This is due to various reasons:

  • lack of surfactants in cosmetics;
  • non-compliance with proportions;
  • absence of thickener or polymer materials.

Regardless of the composition, any slime can be revived. But ways to correct the situation depend on the properties of the resulting mass:

  • The slime sticks to your hands. To reduce the stickiness of the slime, use flour, starch, baby oil or a little thick shampoo.
  • Smee doesn't stretch. If the elasticity is insufficient, add detergent or shower gel. If flour and starch are chosen as the base components, it is better to add PVA glue or a melted glue gun rod to the mixture.
  • The toy is too liquid. Boric acid or borax will help make the mass thicker and more elastic. If they are not available, Teymurov's spray, which contains boric acid and sodium borate, is suitable.

Very often, slimes with soap do not turn out due to insufficient mixing of the ingredients. When using 3 or more components, knead the mixture for at least 10-15 minutes. If necessary, cool it by placing it in the refrigerator for 30-50 minutes.

Without sodium tetraborate

Sodium tetraborate is not safe for children, as it has a toxic effect when penetrated through damaged skin. Prolonged contact with this substance may also cause irritation. Slime with sodium tetraborate should not be given to small children who can put the toy in their mouth.

In addition to the above methods without tetraborate, you can use the following:

  1. Pour 1 package of gelatin with 5 tablespoons of warm water, stir and wait until it dissolves completely.
  2. Then add a little starch as a thickener.
  3. Add flour to give the slime a thicker consistency and mix.

This slime is completely safe for health and stretches well. If you add more flour, you can use it as play dough. As is typical for all flour-based recipes, this “slime” will dry out quickly and you will need to make a new one. It also sticks a little to your hands.

We don't use chemicals

This method will tell you how to make slime at home with borax. A homemade toy will turn out similar to a ready-made one from the store. But it must be done under adult supervision, because the composition contains chemical components. You will need:

  • borax;
  • glue;
  • water;
  • dye.

Add 200 ml of warm water and 1 teaspoon of borax to a glass or plastic bowl. Stir until the powder is completely dissolved. In another bowl, combine 100 ml of water, 3-4 drops of dye and half a tube of glue. A wooden stick is suitable for mixing the mixture. Continue until the mixture is smooth.

Slowly add the prepared borax solution and stir continuously until the mass begins to stretch. There are several recipes without chemicals.

Prepare slime with borax only while wearing gloves, then wash your hands with soap.

Rules for storing and using soda slimes

Nothing lasts forever, but the life of the finished product can be extended with reasonable storage. Regardless of what components the slime was made from, it is best to store it on the refrigerator door in a tightly closed jar. The product should also be protected from sunlight and temperatures above +20 degrees.

Today there is a wide variety of slime options. Every manufacturer tries to differentiate itself in one way or another. In stores you can find a whole pot of slime weighing 1 kg. There are also slimes with the scent of various fruits or flowers.

No glue with cosmetics

Let's figure out how to make slime without glue with the addition of cosmetics. You will need soda, soap, cream, any dyes.

Children can use this and other recipes that are made without sodium tetraborate on their own without parental supervision.

In a small plastic bowl, mix 5 tbsp. spoons of soap and a couple of pinches of soda. Mix thoroughly. You can add glitter or any coloring to make the slime beautiful.

Place the resulting mass in a plastic bag and leave in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours. If you are not satisfied with the consistency of the finished slime, let it cool again, and then knead it thoroughly with your hands for 5-10 minutes.
