If the mixture has not thickened and is a little liquid, add more flour to it. Slime loses its shape after playing, so it is recommended to store it in the cold. At room temperature it will spread.
A slime made from flour, shampoo and shower gel is suitable for a baby, as it is not so harmful. If there is no flour in the house, it is replaced with starch. The third option is to make a mass based on flour and starch in equal proportions.
From the spirits
The amount of ingredients is taken by eye depending on how big the slime should be. You will need a very thick shampoo. To do this, before creating the slime, keep it in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
The shampoo is poured into a bowl and perfume is added to it. It is better to take those that have a high alcohol content. They can be replaced with eau de toilette.
After each injection of the aromatic mixture, the mass is mixed. Perfume is added until the shampoo has a slime-like consistency. In the end, everything is kneaded by hand.
With boric acid
The recipe does not require the use of a specific amount of ingredients. Boric acid is added to the shampoo and everything is mixed according to the standard procedure. The density is regulated by the powder mixture.

Making a toy from simple ingredients
To get the same slime as from the store, you will need to go to the pharmacy for the main component - sodium tetraborate. Another common name for the drug is borax. This antiseptic will be required in small quantities - only 0.5 teaspoon. You will also need:
- two small vessels;
- 1.5 glasses of water;
- food coloring (for example, from an Easter egg coloring kit);
- 30 g glue (transparent stationery glue works best).
Next, almost all recipes on how to make slime recommend:
- Lightly heat 1 cup of water so that its temperature ranges from 30 to 36 °C.
- Pour the liquid into one of the bowls and add borax.
- Mix thoroughly to achieve a homogeneous consistency.
- In the second vessel, combine the remaining liquids: 0.5 tbsp. water, glue. Add a little coloring composition there. Mix.
- Carefully pour water with borax in a thin stream into another container.
You won't have to wait long - almost instantly all the components will come together into a viscous slime, ready for transformation in the hands of young researchers.
How to choose a base for making slime?
To make the slime soft and elastic, it is recommended to use only thick shampoos. Their consistency will make the slime denser and more pleasant to the touch. If the “chewing gum for hands” did not work with one product, then you can try with another.
Most often, the following brands of shampoo are used to make slime:
- Pantene.
- Head & Shoulders.
- Clean line.
- Shamtu.
If the recipe calls for a specific brand of product, then it is recommended to use that brand.
From toothpaste

Required:
- toothpaste without additives;
- liquid soap;
Progress:
- Squeeze the regular white paste into a container.
- Add liquid soap. Mix and add the portion again through the dispenser. We do this 3-4 times.
- We get a jelly slime that does not stick to your hands, but can remain on your fingers. Additionally, we add decorative beads to make it brighter and more beautiful.
Note!
If you don’t have liquid soap at home, you can replace it with creamy shower gel.
Why do you need slime?
Most often, the slime acts as a toy. But some people claim it as an effective stress reliever. It is called anti-stress slime. It is not known how much it relieves nervousness, but we can say for sure that from time to time you still want to mash it in your hands!
This thing is an excellent source of entertainment for children. After all, you can conduct different experiments with it. For example, you can crush it, throw it, mix it with other similar slimes, and sculpt little people. Essentially it's like plasticine. And if you manage to make a magnetic slime, then that’s totally cool! The sight of such slime is addictive, especially at the moment when it eats magnets. In general, you can play enough!
Slime recipe with flour and shampoo
This simple slime has a big advantage - you always have the ingredients for it on hand. Unfortunately, there is also a drawback - it does not stretch as well as classic slimes. However, it is pleasant to knead handgam with flour; you can sculpt various figures from it, as it holds its shape well.
To create slime you will need:
- half a glass of any shampoo;
- some water;
- Wheat flour;
- vegetable oil (you can use cosmetic or body lotion).
The process of creating this slime is similar to kneading dough:
- Thick shampoo must first be diluted with a small amount of water (1-2 spoons). You do not need to add water to the liquid product.
- To make the slime brighter, you can add dye. Food pigments or regular gouache will do.
- Now we start adding flour. We do this in small portions, thoroughly kneading the mass, because slime with lumps does not look very attractive.
- We determine the consistency of the toy by eye. The mass should be quite thick, but not hard. For a more delicate texture, add oil or body lotion.
- Having finished kneading, place the future anti-stress in the refrigerator to rest. Half an hour will be enough.
If the slime does not stretch at all, it means there is too much flour in its composition. This can be corrected by adding water, lotion or shampoo.
Tips and tricks
Some tips and recommendations will help you make and use the toy correctly:
- Before starting work, it is recommended to thoroughly rinse the container in which the composition will be mixed.
- To prevent lumps in the slime, sift flour or starch through a sieve.
- The components for preparing the mixture must be at room temperature, otherwise the thickening process will take a long time.
- The toy should be stored in an airtight container in a cool place.
- If you add foam balls to the composition, the slime will crunch and click during play.
- Do not throw the slime onto a dirty surface. Dust and lint negatively affect the appearance and properties of the slime.
- To remove the smell of glue, add flavoring or essential oil to the mixture.
- It is strictly forbidden to make slime using expired glue, otherwise the toy will become dangerous to humans.
Various sparkles, beads, dye and foil will help make the toy unique.
Shampoo slime recipes
Shampoo is an excellent base for slime. It has a thick texture, a pleasant smell, and the presence of a pearlescent tint. As a thickener you can take sodium tetraborate, saline solution, starch, toothpaste. Additional components add originality to the toy, funny and interesting properties (moving behind a magnet, stretching to the state of a transparent film, etc.).
Classic recipe
Experts know how to make slime from any shampoo. To do this, you need to use the classic recipe, in which the hair wash is only an auxiliary component. And this handgam is based on the chemical reaction of sodium tetraborate and glue.
How to make slime from shampoo according to the classic recipe:
- Pour 150 ml of PVA glue into a bowl.
- Add 50 ml of shampoo.
- Mix the ingredients.
- In another container, make a borax solution (100 ml of water per 20 ml of sodium tetraborate).
- Carefully add the activator (solution), constantly mixing the components.
- Knead the handgam with your fingers.
For the classic recipe for shampoo slime, wallpaper, silicate glue, PVA, and glue stick are suitable. A transparent adhesive mass (silicate, wallpaper) produces a slime that resembles liquid glass. From PVA and a glue stick you can make a matte elastic mass reminiscent of chewing gum.
Colored slime recipe
Watching their children, parents note that kids really like to play with bright mother-of-pearl slimes. Therefore, they are interested in how to make colored slime from shampoo. Experts explain that for this you need to buy gouache, acrylic paints or make juice from beets, spinach, carrots, and berries.
How to make colored slime using shampoo:
- Pour 100 ml of glue into a bowl.
- Add 100 ml of shampoo.
- Add powdered dye.
- Mix the ingredients.
- In a separate container, dilute 20 ml of sodium tetraborate in 50 ml of water.
- Carefully pour the solution onto the colored mixture.
- Mix the ingredients first with a spatula, then with your hands.
Before making colored slime from shampoo, you need to cover your work area with oilcloth and put an apron and sleeves on your child. Remember, a solution of brilliant green, berry juice, and some types of paints penetrate deep into the skin and are difficult to wash off with soap. Therefore, give your baby disposable gloves. And most importantly, make sure that he does not inhale the smallest grains of powdered dye.
Slime recipe with toothpaste
This oral cleanser has a viscous, thick texture that holds its shape well, does not drip, and does not dry out when exposed to air. In addition, toothpaste often has a pleasant, fresh scent that pairs well with the neutral scent of branded shampoos.
How to make slime from shampoo and toothpaste:
- Pour 100 ml of shampoo into a bowl.
- Squeeze out 100 ml of toothpaste.
- Mix the ingredients.
- Microwave for 1 minute to evaporate excess moisture.
- Cool and knead with your hands.
If the slime from thick shampoo and toothpaste turns out to be runny, add a few drops of activator. Sodium tetraborate, strong saline solution, or contact lens cleaner are suitable. The latter remedy contains a compound similar to the composition of human tears. It is this that is the activator of the chemical reaction, as a result of which a dense, elastic mass is formed.
Magnetic slime recipe
Stores sell slimes that independently approach a magnet and then “absorb” it. Such a toy can be made at home if you add an additional component to the shampoo slime recipe - iron oxide. During production, help your child so that he does not accidentally inhale the chemical powder.
How to make magnetic slime from shampoo:
- Pour 100 ml of shampoo into a bowl.
- Add 150 ml glue.
- Add a pinch of iron oxide.
- Stir the ingredients.
- Thicken the slime with a sodium tetraborate solution.
- Knead the handgum with your hands.
In addition to the question of how to make magnetic slime from shampoo, parents are interested in whether iron oxide is dangerous for the child’s skin. Experts explain that this component does not cause allergic reactions, does not scratch fingers, and does not cause redness or itching.
In addition, after the end of its service life, you can mold a toy from the handgam and leave it in direct sunlight so that it finally hardens. After this, it will not lose its magnetic properties.
Slime recipe with sugar
There is another recipe for people who are interested in how to make slime using only shampoo. Experts recommend that they pay attention to one component that “disappears” inside the slime - sugar. After complete dissolution, the child will feel only viscous, elastic shampoo on his fingers.
How to make slime from shampoo according to the original recipe:
- Pour 5 tablespoons of thick shampoo into a plastic container.
- Add 2 tablespoons of sugar.
- Mix the ingredients.
- Cover with a lid and place in the refrigerator.
- After 24 hours, take it out and knead it in your hands.
At home, you can decorate the inside with a transparent slime made from shampoo. To do this, prepare bright beads, sparkles, mother-of-pearl beads or finely chopped New Year's rain. Any of these fillings will transform the toy in appearance and enhance tactile sensations during play.
Storage Features
If you use slime made from water and other ingredients for a while, we recommend that you store it in a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid. This will allow the toy to retain its elasticity longer.
Please note that slime should not be stored for more than one month. Avoid leaving small debris or other particles on the toy. Often this even causes the shampoo slime to spoil. Therefore, clean it after use and monitor the playing conditions.
Option No. 6: “Shamtu” and gouache
You will need: “Shamtu”, gouache and water.
You make a toy as follows: you need to take an airtight container (a shallow, wide jar with a lid), add 100 ml of water, a tablespoon of “Shamtu” and a little watercolor for color. Then stir everything very carefully. But so that foam does not appear. It is very important.
After this, close the jar with a lid and refrigerate for a couple of hours. Water slime made using this recipe should be soft and jelly-like.
How to keep slime longer or proper care
Create optimal conditions for the toy. This is a house, food, bath, place to play and storage. Sprinkle the slime regularly with salt and rinse under running water.
Sometimes small bubbles appear on the slime. To remove them, place the product in a separate container and leave for 4-5 days. After this time, check if there is a small bright spot on the surface - it must be transferred to another container.
Rinse the slime well with warm water and always put it in the house. You shouldn't play with slime often, as it absorbs the surrounding dust well and shrinks in size as a result.
Be sure to make such a toy with your child! You just need to show imagination and a little patience, and in return you will receive a lot of positive emotions. Just choose the recipe that suits you.
Slime made from salt and soda
This slime is made from baking soda without adding glue or sodium tetraborate. It will require bulk ingredients, accompanied by shower gel.
We proceed in the same way as in the case of liquid soap: first mix soda and gel, and then bring the toy to the desired thickness, gradually adding fine salt. The resulting slime will look like jelly. You can use it as finger slime by placing it in a convenient container.
Slime pva plus soda
Slime made from soda and glycerin
Glycerin in the slime makes its surface smooth and makes the toy glossy.
Ingredients for this recipe:
- PVA glue;
- borax;
- soda;
- glycerol;
- warm water;
- dye.
Let's start cooking:
- Dilute tetraborate (1 teaspoon) in a glass of water and add a few drops of glycerin.
- We pour approximately a quarter of the resulting solution into a container, add glue and pigment there.
- After mixing, evaluate the thickness of the slime and, if necessary, add another portion of the activating solution.
The density of the slime can be adjusted by the amount of liquid added. The toy will have a slightly oily, smooth surface.
Option No. 2: Pantin and sugar
To make slime with your own hands you will need: 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar (sugar) and a tablespoon of “Pantina” (can be replaced with “Clean Line”) and liquid soap (you can use any, but it is desirable that it be thick and transparent).
To prepare slime from shampoo and sugar, thoroughly mix the ingredients and leave the resulting substance to infuse for 2 hours. Then put it in the freezer for 30-40 minutes. After the allotted time, take it out. Slime without glue is ready.
It is better not to add dye to it. Even a small amount of colored ingredient can disrupt the chemical reaction and your “creation” will not thicken. The slime from the shampoo will turn out completely transparent, and this has its own charm.
How to choose ingredients for slime?
The shampoo is responsible for the softness and elasticity of the slime. Therefore, it must be of high quality, concentrated, and thick. The fresh aroma and pearlescent color are a pleasant, but not necessary addition. And medicinal and anti-aging components do not affect the properties of chewing gum for hands.
Water in slime recipes acts as a solvent for sodium tetraborate. This strong thickener reacts with the glue and forms a thick paste. A large amount of the drug makes it hard and tight. And when adding an aqueous solution, it is easier to monitor the compaction of the mixture and stop in time.
It is impossible to make slime from just shampoo and water. To give the toy the characteristic properties of a slime (the ability to stretch into a film, bounce off the table, blow bubbles, make squelching sounds), it is necessary to add other components. Most often, slimers use shaving foam, glue, starch, dyes, and glitter.
Safety precautions when making slime
Before you make slime from shampoo, it is important to remember that any experiments to create them must be accompanied by compliance with safety measures. Most often they contain household chemicals and failure to follow certain rules can lead to dire consequences:
- All work must be performed exclusively with gloves.
- Dishes for mixing components should not be plastic or aluminum.
- Do not allow any of the ingredients to come into contact with your eyes.
- The ingredients from which the slime is created should not be used in food.
