How to wash a denim jacket in a washing machine: rules

How to care for a denim jacket?

Denim jackets require special care. They can be machine washed at 40°, turning the item inside out, using regular washing powder for colored laundry. The item should be dried in a well-ventilated area or balcony. Then the product must be ironed well.

Preparation

Denim can be washed either by hand or by machine. Before washing, the product must be prepared:

  1. Read the information on the manufacturer's label.
  2. Fasten all zippers and buttons.
  3. Check your pockets.
  4. Turn the jacket inside out.

If you are washing a denim jacket for the first time, do it separately from other clothes and on your hands. To fix the dye, you can add a little vinegar to the water.

Spin and dry

To maintain the original appearance of the jacket, you must follow some rules:

  • Do not wring or wring clothing. Just hang it over the bathtub and the excess water will drain off on its own.
  • It is better to avoid spinning and drying in a washing machine, as this can damage the fabric.
  • Drying the item with a hairdryer or iron is contraindicated.
  • Do not dry denim in the sun as it may fade.
  • Don't over-dry your clothes.
  • Before drying, straighten out all the creases and tuck the pockets in so you don’t have to smooth them out later.
  • Hang your jacket on a line by the sleeves or waistband to avoid leaving marks.

Adding shine

To give a fur product a beautiful shine, you can use a weak solution of acetic acid, glycerin or lemon juice. You need to thoroughly treat the fur with one of these products, and then wipe it with a napkin.

In addition, a special product made from fish oil (100 g), ammonia (12 drops), ordinary laundry soap (10 g) and boiling water (1 l) will help to add shine to a fur product. All these components must be thoroughly mixed, then the resulting solution must be cooled to a temperature of 35 degrees and the fur must be thoroughly treated with it. If the fur coat is dusty, then you need to wrap it in a damp sheet and then knock it out.

How to shrink the product?

To make the product smaller by 1-2 sizes, it must be dried properly . The pants are laid out on a flat surface, covered with a terry towel.

You need to smooth them out with your hands, giving them the correct shape. Being in a horizontal position, the fibers will not shrink during the drying process.

Methods for shrinking denim:

  1. To ensure that denim shrinks, it is recommended to wash the item in an automatic washing machine. Such intensive processing will lead to compression of the fibers and their reduction by 1-2 sizes.

  2. Washing in boiling water. The higher the water temperature, the greater the shrinkage. If necessary, the pants can be boiled. Adding a soap solution enhances the effect.
  3. Wash and spin at high speeds. To do this, use the “intensive wash” program. The speed must be at least 800 drum rotations per minute.
  4. Ironing the product. The higher the exposure temperature, the more significant the shrinkage of the fabric. To enhance the effect, you can wet your pants with hot water with fabric softener diluted in it in a 3:1 ratio.

This article will tell you how to shrink stretched jeans.

Explanation of the label

The manufacturer informs you under what conditions to wash the jacket using symbols:

  • container with water and a number - washing temperature;
  • triangle - whitening;
  • letter in a circle - dry cleaning;
  • iron with dots - ironing;
  • a square with vertical stripes is a drying method.

The label of a simple denim jacket without lining often indicates a water temperature of 40 degrees. A crossed out triangle means no bleaching. The letter "P" is enclosed in a circle. The symbol indicates that the item is subject to standard dry cleaning. Two dots are placed on the iron, indicating ironing at 150 degrees. Vertical stripes in a square are a sign indicating hanging drying.

What to do if you can’t wash it

If the label indicates that the fur is not washable, you can use the following methods to remove stains:

  1. Dust and fresh dirt particles are removed using a suitable brush or vacuum cleaner. You can also knock out or shake the product.
  2. Fresh stains are removed with starch or soda. The bulk substance should be applied to the problem area and left for 15–20 minutes. During this time, starch (soda) absorbs dirt. At the end of the allotted period, the fur coat (collar) is turned inside out and shaken out. To remove residual soda (starch), the fur must be cleaned with a brush.
  3. Traces of fat and greasy stains are cleaned using a mixture of 1 tsp. alcohol (allowed to replace with gasoline) and 1 tbsp. l. starch. Both substances are mixed to a mushy state. Then the resulting mass is applied to the contaminated areas, left for 10 minutes and combed out with a brush (removed with a cotton swab).

If the described methods do not bring the required result, then the fur product should be dry cleaned.

Do jeans shrink after washing?

In the case of shrinkage, you should ignore the advice that recommends washing jeans at a temperature no higher than 30–40 °C. The indicated range is the optimal mode that allows you to maintain the density of the fabric.

Increasing or sudden changes in temperature, intensive washing machine programs lead to the fact that natural fibers, which are an important part of denim fabric, begin to shrink, changing the structure.

It turns out that if you wash jeans following the manufacturer's requirements, it is quite difficult to shrink the size. But, if you subject the product to deliberate boiling, soaking in hot water, or shock drying, a decrease cannot be avoided.

If you want to wash your jeans to make them shrink, violate the manufacturers' recommendations regarding temperature conditions. Shrinkage is guaranteed.

The ideal temperature for painless shrinkage of tissue is above 90 degrees: optimally 90–95. Elevated temperatures can cause the fabric to lose its original shade and the decor, which was held on by the adhesive base, to disappear.

It is also worth understanding that shrinkage affects not only the width of the item, but sometimes also its length. Washing in boiling water and boiling reduces the size in all respects. The size may decrease by 1-1.5 cm in diameter and 0.5-1 cm in length.

In order for jeans to fit without causing a series of unpleasant embarrassments that will lead to the pants becoming unusable, you should take into account the composition of the material from which the product is made.

Special cases

Jeans are different jeans. Products vary in density and origin of fabric. Therefore, the above shrinkage methods are not suitable for everyone. Let's look at the main types of fabric from which denim clothing is made.

Denim

This is a classic denim fabric woven from two threads. In products made from this material, the backside is always white. The raw material is cotton from Mexico, Zimbabwe or Barbados.

Denim can be placed in the car. However, this material does not shrink well and quickly takes the shape of the body.

Jeans

Cotton fabric of Indian or Asian origin. Quite a dense material that is used in the production of jackets, men's suits, and jeans. Shrinkage depends on the origin and quality of the material.

Jeans shrink a little after washing, but eventually return to their original size.

Asian jeans shrink more easily. After washing, the fabric becomes rough and shrinks slightly. However, after a short time it returns to its original size.

Indian denim is thinner and fluffier. Fits well in all directions.

Stretch

Loose-fitting fabric made from natural fibers with a mixture of synthetic fabrics in the form of elastane or lycra. This material fits perfectly, stretches easily and is great for sewing jeans.

The compression section is a challenge. This material cannot be boiled or scalded with boiling water because it is synthetic. Otherwise, the properties of elastic fabrics are reduced. If your old trousers are very stretched, it is better to buy a new model, as the fabric is worn out and has lost its elasticity.

To avoid shrinkage of the elastic material, immediately after purchasing jeans, choose a size smaller.

Summer jeans

This fabric is most often used in the production of denim shorts and summer trousers. The fabric is not actually denim. Light cotton fabric is dyed to match denim.

Summer jeans can be squeezed with boiling water, but there is a high probability of ruining the outfit.

The material stretches when used, washes quickly and is mainly designed for one season. You can shrink the fabric with boiling water, but it is unlikely that the clothing will stretch to the desired shape a second time. High probability of irreversibly damaging things.

It is quite possible to shrink jeans at home. It is enough to wash at 90 degrees at high speed or soak the item in boiling water. Before the procedure, read the label on the clothing to ensure the method you choose.

Cleaning fur on a jacket

It is very important for everyone to know how to properly clean faux fur on clothes, since using simple methods you can return it to its former attractive appearance without resorting to the services of specialists. You can try a solution made from lemon juice or citric acid.

To do this, you need to dilute lemon juice with water in equal proportions, moisten a sponge in the resulting solution and clean the fur strictly in the direction of the pile. Hang the product on a hanger to dry. After complete drying, you need to comb the fur with a sparse comb.

Lemon juice should be used very carefully as it may slightly change the color of the fur. That is why you initially need to experiment in an inconspicuous area.

Products with stripes, inserts, torn elements

Patches and inserts

To wash jackets with stripes and inserts:

  • turned inside out;
  • only manually;
  • without squeezing (the water should drain by itself);
  • using delicate detergents;
  • in water with a temperature of no more than 40 degrees.

Torn elements

How to wash jackets with torn elements:

  • Hand wash preferred.
  • If you decide to use a machine, a delicate mode with a minimum number of revolutions will do.
  • Machine spinning and high temperatures are contraindicated.
  • Don't forget to turn the product inside out.
  • Before drying, carefully straighten the item, returning it to its original appearance.

Denim jackets with fur

  • Hand washing is recommended, but you can also use a machine on the delicate cycle.
  • Monitor the water temperature and the number of revolutions.
  • Do not turn on the spin cycle in the machine.
  • The fur should dry on its own, without using an iron or battery.
  • Once dry, use a brush to fluff up the fur inserts.

At home, you can only wash faux fur; inserts made from natural fur cannot be washed - you will have to go to the dry cleaner.

Tips and tricks

There are some nuances and restrictions in washing for the purpose of shrinkage, observing which, it will be possible not only to reduce the size of the product, but also to maintain its respectable appearance:

  • Jeans decorated with embroidery, rhinestones, and lace should not be boiled or washed intensively;
  • as the width of the trousers decreases, the length of the product will also decrease;
  • jeans made of stretch material should be taken a size smaller;
  • To prevent jeans from stretching, you need to choose high-quality denim or gin and follow the washing and drying rules indicated on the label.

If your favorite jeans are stretched out a lot, and there is no desire or opportunity to buy new ones, you can try to revive the item using the above methods. In case of failure, you can only rely on the services of the studio.

Dry cleaning

If you cannot unfasten the fur, then it is better to consider ways to clean the fur on a down jacket dry (or using a damp mixture, but without general soaking). It's also easy:

  • Mix gasoline and starch until you get a thick mixture with a consistency similar to sour cream. After this, apply this substance evenly to the contaminated area and let it sit. The gasoline will evaporate on its own, after which the pile will need to be combed with a frequent comb to get rid of traces of starch. Please note that this method is not applicable for artificial astrakhan, which may be afraid of gasoline.
  • Sprinkle talcum powder over the surface of the collar. Rub it thoroughly with your hands, then shake the down jacket. If a little talc remains, it doesn’t matter, it repels moths. Starch can be used in the same way.
  • The above mixture of ammonia and salt can also be used simply for cleaning, without further erasing the edge.

Cleaning white fur

The approaches to how to wash white fur from a down jacket are slightly different from those for dark-colored fur - after all, any, even the slightest deviation from the norm will be immediately noticeable, the material can easily turn yellow, so you need to act more carefully. It is not recommended to resort to regular washing; here are more acceptable cleaning methods:

  • Soak hardwood sawdust in gasoline, then pour it onto the collar. Rub the fur between your hands, then comb everything thoroughly and beat it to get rid of any remaining sawdust.
  • Take one part baking soda and three parts medical alcohol and mix thoroughly. Soak a sponge in this mixture and carefully walk over the dirty areas.
  • Mix lemon juice and water in equal quantities, soak a clothes brush in the mixture and gently brush problem areas until they turn snow-white.

Important: If we are talking about serious contamination, for example, wine spilled on white fur, then do not even try to clean it at home, you will only ruin everything, you cannot do without special chemicals. Be sure to give your down jacket to professionals who will find the right way to clean a fur collar from a down jacket - and then, perhaps, it will be possible to restore it to its original form.

How to wash a fur collar

Chic down jackets with a fashionable fur trim on the hood are always at the peak of popularity. Lightweight and incredibly comfortable, such outerwear not only pleases the eyes of others, but also allows a girl to feel comfortable even in the most severe frost. Many manufacturers of down jackets think about how exactly they will wash not only the product itself, but also the fur trim. That is why they equip things with buttons or zippers. But not everyone does this. Therefore, very often many girls are faced with a difficult question: how to wash the fur from a down jacket at home, maintaining its original appearance? Let's figure out together how to easily and effortlessly complete this task.

Hand washing natural fur at home

Why wash fur at home anyway? Firstly, an accessory for a down jacket can lose its magnificent appearance during even the most careful wear. Traveling on public transport, going to the grocery store, using a house elevator - all this and much more are the very factors that can lead to a rather deplorable state of fur on a down jacket. Secondly, even the most careful socks do not give you a 100% guarantee that at the end of the season you will not find greasy and dirty spots on your fur. Thirdly, dry cleaning services are quite expensive, so even such a seemingly simple procedure as cleaning fur can cost you a pretty penny.

The simplest and most effective method of cleaning the edge of a down jacket is hand washing. Let's define the main steps that will help us clean the product from dirt, grease and other contaminants.

  1. First, detach the fur from the down jacket. The product can be attached to the hood of outerwear using buttons or a zipper. However, very often manufacturers sew fur to the hood. In this case, you will have to carefully tear off the product.
  2. In order to wash fur, you need to prepare a soap solution. Take a small basin and pour water into it. Fur does not like high temperatures, so water should not be heated higher than 30 degrees Celsius. Use detergent for washing. An excellent alternative would be shampoo or liquid soap. In addition, modern hardware stores offer a wide range of cleaning products for fur and fur products from both domestic and foreign manufacturers.
  3. After you have prepared the water, proceed directly to the process of processing the product. Soak the fur in the solution and leave for at least half an hour.
  4. After a while, start washing the fur itself. Act carefully, using smooth and leisurely movements when treating contaminated areas. Try not to rub or squeeze the fur too much with your hands, otherwise it may become deformed.
  5. After you wash the item in soapy water, rinse the basin thoroughly. This will help you get rid of any suds that may remain on the edges of the container and prevent you from thoroughly rinsing the fur.
  6. Once the rinsing bowl is completely clean, place the fur there. It is very important! Rinse the product exclusively in cold water! In this case, you will ensure that after washing the fur from the down jacket will be shiny, soft to the touch and silky.
  7. Drying the product also needs to be given close attention. Under no circumstances hang fur on a rope in the bathroom or on a radiator, and do not wring it out or twist it. Lay the fur on a towel and let it dry naturally.
  8. After the product has completely dried, the fur must be put in order. For these purposes, you can use a regular comb with rare teeth. In addition, in a pet store you can choose a special model for fur. When combing, do not make sudden movements, but smoothly and slowly slide the comb in the direction of hair growth.

It is possible to clean the fur with a soap solution if minor dirt is found on it after wearing it. Unfortunately, greasy stains will be much more difficult to deal with.

How to remove grease stains?

So, to remove an annoying greasy stain from the fur edge of a down jacket, prepare a special solution. To do this, take a teaspoon of 10% ammonia and two tablespoons of salt, as well as two hundred milliliters of water. Then carefully mix all the ingredients and apply the mixture to problem spots on the fur. Leave for half an hour, and then wash the fur according to the same principle as we described above.

In addition to the presented method, greasy stains can be removed using a mixture of salt and vinegar. To prepare the solution, add the following ingredients: one tablespoon of salt, half a liter of water and a tablespoon of vinegar. After this, gently apply the solution to the greasy stains for no more than half an hour, and then wash as usual.

Dry cleaning the fur edge of a down jacket

If for some reason the fur cannot be removed from the down jacket, then it is necessary to dry clean the product. There are several options for such washing, let's consider each of them.

  1. Starch and gasoline.
    The most ordinary gasoline will do an excellent job of cleaning a fur collar. To do this, you need to add starch to the substance, and then mix the ingredients to a fairly thick consistency. Afterwards, you need to apply the mixture to the problem areas and leave it there for half an hour. Next, clean the fur from any remaining mixture using a comb or vacuum cleaner.
  2. Talc.
    This method involves using talc as the main cleaning agent. Take a handful of the crystalline substance and gently work the problem areas of the fur. The procedure can be repeated until all the fur turns white. Then you need to remove all the powder from the fur by shaking the product thoroughly. The remaining grains can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. An excellent alternative to talc are starch and semolina.

Faux fur trim

All of the above tips apply to cases where the edge of the down jacket is made of natural fur. However, very often faux fur is used as decoration for outerwear. This is understandable: the alternative version of natural edge is lighter in weight, it is quite easy to clean, and it costs several times less. Caring for such a product is not at all difficult. Very often, you can use a washing machine to remove stains from the surface of faux fur. First of all, study the label on the down jacket. The manufacturer must indicate on it all the conditions for washing the product. In most cases, faux fur is washed along with the down jacket on a delicate cycle.

Very often, the hoods of jackets and down jackets are decorated with a thin strip of natural fur.

edge

. Usually the edge is made removable so that it doesn’t get damaged when washing the jacket. But over time, the fur at the edge turns yellow, gets dirty and curls into icicles. Find out how to fluff, update and fur on the hood in our advice.

We have already talked about it, but now we will talk specifically about the edge - a thin strip of fur sewn to the zipper.

Cleaning fur is a rather complicated undertaking, but the edge can be simply washed

. You ask: “How can this be? The edge is also fur.” Yes, meh. Only this is a very thin strip, which is firmly sewn to the fabric with a tight seam. This is what prevents the skin from shrinking or spreading

after washing.

shampoo for washing

for hair, and even better, shampoo for dogs and cats with a whitening effect. Cat and dog breeders highly praise the following shampoos:

1) Chris Christensen White on White Shampoo Chris Christensen -

whitening shampoo for dogs and cats. As the manufacturer indicates, this shampoo can be used on coats of any color and on dogs of any breed.

- whitening shampoo, it helps remove stains, makes the coat brighter, all colors, and does not lighten, but enriches the natural texture of the coat.

But I haven’t found such shampoos in our city. Therefore, I used what I found in the pet store, more or less suitable.

— Shampoo “Shining White” for dogs and cats with light hair. Refreshes dull fur. You can see the result of washing the edges with this shampoo in the lower photos.

Let's start washing the fur trim

Pour some cold water into the basin (about 30 degrees). Add shampoo.

We rinse the fur, carefully pulling it through our hands for 5 minutes. You can simply rinse and leave the fur in the basin for this time for the whitening effect of the shampoo to take effect. Don't be afraid, the colored fur will not lighten or turn white during this time. Due to the fact that the yellowness of the pile goes away, the color of any fur color becomes purer and richer, even black.

Shake well. And hang it in the shade

in the breeze to dry.

After the water has completely drained from the edge, the fur should dry to this condition (see bottom photo)

Now you need to dry it with a hairdryer

, carefully combing with a brush-comb in different directions. You can buy a brush at a pet store.

This is necessary to prevent icicles from forming

.

Leave the edge on the dryer until completely dry.

.

When the edge is completely dry, fasten it to the hood.

For clarity

you can compare the edge before washing:

No matter how careful you are, the time will come to wash your down jacket. Modern washing machines have a special program for this and can easily cope with this task. But what if the down jacket is decorated with fur trim? These are the ones that are the most popular. There will be a way out of this problematic situation.

If the manufacturer prudently took care of the removable fur trim, then you are in luck. Most often it is attached using buttons or zippers. Remove the fur trim and clean it separately. Fur trim made from natural fur can be washed with regular hair shampoo in running water. Add a little detergent, lightly rinse the fur and rinse thoroughly. Lay the fur horizontally on a towel to dry. Carefully comb the dried fur item with a comb - first against the pile, then in its direction. This method of cleaning fur is not very effective if there is visible greasy dirt on it. Prepare a special composition for cleaning fur: add 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of ammonia to a glass of water, stir. Apply the mixture to contaminated areas of fur and leave for half an hour. Then wash and dry the item as described above. If for some reason it is desirable not to wash the fur, but to clean it, for example, the fur is not removable or is very dirty, use a mixture of gasoline and starch for cleaning. Mix these ingredients until sour cream thickens. Apply the resulting composition to contaminated areas of the fur edge. Leave it like this for a while, after which all the gasoline will evaporate and the starch will absorb the dirt. Now comb the fur with a comb so that no traces of starch remain. If necessary, repeat this procedure. The removable fur can now be washed. Natural fur is not always used when sewing outerwear. It is gradually being replaced by artificial ones. This is understandable: it is lighter in weight, much cheaper, easier to clean, and you don’t have to kill animals for it. Caring for faux fur products is not difficult - they can be washed without fear of ruining their appearance. Start by studying the label on your down jacket. The washing conditions must be indicated there. Most often, a down jacket can be washed in a washing machine on a gentle cycle. Stains on fur trim are cleaned in the same way as stains on natural fur - with gasoline and starch or ammonia mixed with water and salt. You cannot clean artificial astrakhan fur with gasoline. Some faux fur items are best washed by hand. Prepare a warm soapy solution from wool and silk washing powder. Clean your down jacket before washing. You can use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush for this. Then soak the fur edge in a soapy solution, leave for 15-30 minutes, rinse under running water. Faux fur should not be twisted; it is better to lightly squeeze out the water with your hands or wrap it in a cotton cloth and squeeze out the water. Hang your jacket on hangers. Dry at room temperature away from heating appliances. Faux fur does not stretch and does not require horizontal drying. White fur items that cannot be washed require special care. Often yellowish spots appear on them. You can remove them using a mixture of water and lemon juice. Take the mixture ingredients in equal proportions. Soak a clothes brush in the mixture and very carefully brush stains on white faux fur with it until the yellowness completely disappears. Clean a product with fur that is not recommended to be washed with ammonia, which can be mixed in equal parts with denatured alcohol.

If you are afraid that washing at home will damage the fur on your down jacket, then take your favorite item with fur trim to the dry cleaner. Experienced specialists will examine the material of the jacket, its finish and degree of contamination, and select the appropriate cleaning composition. Therefore, you will soon have your clothes perfectly cleaned.

If you have just purchased a jacket or down jacket, and the fur on the hood looks new, it would be a good idea to take preventative measures to prevent the risk of contamination. Thanks to a simple procedure, the fur will last you much longer and retain its presentable appearance. First you need to unfasten the fur from the hood, if possible, and spread it on a hard surface, for example on a table.

After this, you should moisten a cotton pad with alcohol and wipe the edge of the hood lengthwise and crosswise with quick, vigorous movements. If necessary, you can repeat this procedure one more time. Then you need to let the product dry. After the fur has dried, you need to comb it with a comb or a brush with hard bristles. After this alcohol treatment, the fur will become shiny, fluffy and will retain its original freshness longer.

Unreal life hacks

Caring for jeans is easy. Knowing some of the right tips and tricks can extend the life of jackets, shorts, shirts and other clothing made from this fabric.

Let's look at some little-known life hacks:

  • instead of washing - freezing;
  • We grow ourselves - we stretch our jeans. If you have gained weight, you can increase your trouser size a little. To do this, you need to wet them and put more objects into the belt that will stretch them;
  • You can reduce the size by lying in a hot bath until the water cools completely. This method will help the matter shrink;
  • to fix a zipper that is stuck, use stylus, wax or lubricants such as oil, chapstick;
  • The zipper opens - attach the ring to the tongue and connect it to the button.

What about storing such clothes? It is recommended to keep it folded in a closed cabinet. If you plan not to use clothes for a long time, you can place them in a special bag - this way they will not become saturated with odors and will not accumulate dust.

Getting rid of moisture

The drying process depends on the washing performed. If the jacket was cleaned by hand, then you should not wring it out - just hold the item over a basin or put it in the bathroom, allowing the water to flow freely from the fabric. Afterwards, the denim is straightened out and hung on hangers. Jeans are drying in the shade on the balcony.

You cannot dry jeans on a radiator!

If you choose to machine wash, then before drying the jacket must be unbuttoned, turned inside out, and only then hung on hangers in the fresh air. The material is periodically straightened to avoid folds and creases. As for artificial drying, hair dryers and heaters are prohibited, as they dry out the fabric too much, leading to loss of elasticity and deformation. Direct ultraviolet radiation has a similar effect, making denim hard, faded and rough.

Wash by hand

To wash denim by hand:

  • in a weak soap solution;
  • in a straightened form (preferably in the bathroom);
  • in a small amount of water at a temperature of 30-40 degrees;
  • separate from other things.

For severe dirt, you can use a soft brush.

How exactly to wash a denim jacket - in order:

  1. Lay out the clothes, apply a soapy solution of laundry soap or liquid detergent evenly.
  2. Wash each area of the product.
  3. Rinse in cool water until it runs clear.
  4. Wring out the jacket, but do not twist it, let the remaining water drain out.

For severe stains, you can soak the item in warm water for no more than half an hour.

How to dry jeans correctly

Actions after hand washing:

  • do not squeeze the jacket too hard, let the water drain;
  • straighten, hang on hangers;
  • dry on the balcony in the shade.

After machine washing, the jacket is unbuttoned, turned right side out, and also hung on hangers on the balcony. If the fabric is periodically straightened, the item will not need to be ironed after drying. It is not recommended to dry denim with a hairdryer. The hot air will make it rough and hard.

Things dried in the sun lose their elasticity and fit tightly to the body. It is inconvenient to move in a hard jacket until it gets worn out again.

Proper stain removal

Jeans are quite difficult to get dirty. But once a stain appears, removing it can be a problem. If dirt has penetrated deeply into the dense fibers of the fabric, it will be necessary to remove particularly difficult stains before washing.

The easiest option is to use stain removers. There are special products for specific stains. But if you don't have a stain remover, use other products.

An important rule for using any product when removing stains: test it on an inconspicuous area to avoid color washing out and damage to the fabric at the treatment site. So, how to remove different types of stains:

  1. Fatty and oily substances are washed off with kerosene, white spirit, acetone, and purified gasoline. Dishwashing detergent will also work. Soak a cotton swab or piece of scrap fabric in solvent and gently rub the stain.
  2. Dye. First, let it dry thoroughly, since a damp stain is almost impossible to remove. Using a sharp object, carefully clean off the dried stain, moving from the edge to the center, and then use a solvent.
  3. Ink from a ballpoint or gel pen. Soak the stain with an alcohol solution, then rub in regular salt.
  4. Chewing gum. Put your jeans in the freezer and take them out onto the balcony in winter. The frozen toffee will completely come away from the fabric, down to the smallest particles.
  5. Grass. A small amount of hydrogen peroxide will not leave a trace of green juice.

Depending on the complexity of the contamination, the item is left for some time with the product applied. Regular dirt comes off well after soaking in water with dissolved powder.

After removing the stain, a long machine wash in warm water is required.

Detergent

Can faux fur be washed? Can. Such a product can be processed manually, cleaned using home or professional products. It is better to use specially formulated chemical products designed to remove dirt from artificial pile.

Manufacturers of such products recommend using the following products:

  • FLAT;
  • VESTAR (washing gel);
  • Emsal Tuba;
  • Alles Gut;
  • Dreft Delicates{amp}amp;Color;
  • Luxus Professional;
  • Frosch.

All detergents will provide a delicate wash, show good results, retain the shape of the product and protect the color from fading.

How to determine in advance whether your pants will fit?

It is impossible to say 100% that pants will shrink after washing. However, the risks increase in the following cases:

  1. The fabric contains a large percentage of cotton. Products containing synthetic fibers are less likely to shrink.
  2. Suitable for washing at high temperatures.
  3. After washing, it is planned to subject the pants to an automatic spin cycle.
  4. Stretch jeans do not shrink. These things stretch great.

The more intensive processing the jeans undergo, the more likely they are to shrink. Read about the rules for washing jeans here.

Machine washable

Before you begin, fasten the zippers and buttons, check the pockets, and turn the product inside out. Use liquid detergents; they wash out more easily than powder.

Selecting the desired mode

For washing, select the denim cycle. If this is not the case, use a delicate or other gentle mode. Other parameters:

  • number of revolutions – no more than 800;
  • duration (do not wash a lightly soiled jacket for a long time);
  • amount of water (the more there is in the drum, the better).

Temperature selection

  • The optimal temperature is 30–40 degrees. In this case, the item is not deformed and its color is preserved.
  • Permissible temperature is up to 60 degrees.
