The renovation is over, it's time for decoration.

Types of curtains
Curtains in a modern interior can be of a wide variety of styles. According to the opening method, they are divided into two types:
- curtains move to the sides (classic opening)
- rise up (all types of Roman, roller, Austrian blinds)
Today I, together with Emma and her assistant Mr. Roulette, will talk about curtains that slide apart and hang on classic wall curtain rods. Statistics from professional experience show that we love classic curtains more than all others.
Profile construction
It is a guide with grooves for small sliders. Profile structures are made of plastic or aluminum. Currently, both straight and arched versions of profile structures are presented on the market. They are made of lightweight materials, so they can be attached to both walls and suspended ceilings
A bendable cornice is a plastic profile that is easily deformed and takes the desired shape. Often used for installing arched windows.
Fabric with a pattern - pitfalls when choosing and purchasing.
The task becomes more complicated if you choose fabric with a pattern.
Each drawing has its own report. A report is a repetition of a pattern on fabric vertically and horizontally.
To make the curtains look seamless and beautiful, you need to combine the pattern. This procedure requires buying more fabric so that the master can make the joining perfectly. For fabrics with a pattern, on average 2 or 3 reports are added to the total consumption, and for some prints this can be a whole meter.
Advice: check with the seller for the drawing report. Come to the fabric salon with all the window measurements so that the master can make a professional calculation: how much fabric to buy.
Mounting options
There are several ways to hang curtains on a window.
Rings are special fasteners for cornices with a round cross-section. The rings are stitched to the curtain tape. They are able to withstand the weight of thick curtains.
Eyelets are the same rings, only they punch special holes in the panel. A cornice runs through them.
Hooks are practical and unnoticeable details. To find out how to hang curtains on hooks, it is advisable to consult with sellers who will give detailed information. In fact, there is nothing complicated. A ribbon is sewn to the fabric, the hook is grabbed with the help of loops and the curtain is securely fastened, forming beautiful folds.
Thanks to the fastenings - clamps, you can form the tails as you wish. The disadvantage of this type of fastening is that they can tear thin fabric.
Curtain tapes create loops and make it possible to drape the product on windows in different ways. Tapes of different sizes are available for sale: two-row, three-row. These are the standard options. If you want to create larger folds, you will need a wider ribbon.
Using tape, you can make tails of various shapes. For example:
Columns are vertical folds of equal size, which are regulated by tape ropes;
Pencils are systematic vertical pieces that taper towards the top. The result is an additional coat of arms.
Fan - refined folds of 3-5 elements that resemble a well-known attribute.
Butterfly is a variation of a diamond-shaped screed. To make this shape you will need a ribbon with 4 ropes.
Puffs are large asymmetrical folds formed by fairly wide ribbons with four-row ribbons. Puffs made from fabrics interspersed with shiny threads look extraordinary. This window decoration will suit the interior of any room.
A bow is a chain of bows located closely together. The bedroom will be an ideal place for this type of curtains.

You don’t have to hang curtains, you can replace them with wooden blinds, or with a roller blackout mounted on the window frame. You can completely abandon any method of closing yourself off from the light. But always remember about the climate in which you live, about banal coziness and comfort.
And remember that if you refused to decorate the windows with curtains, then their design should be made perfect during the renovation. No chips, uneven corners, sloppy joints of wallpaper and paint. Pay special attention to window sills and slopes. And then everything in your house will be 5 plus, not for the picture, but for your cool life.

The design feature is that the length can be changed. Fastenings are allowed either in a spacer version or on brackets. The option with spacers is often used in the bathroom. Designs with brackets can be multi-row, capable of supporting the weight of heavy curtains.
To determine the installation height of the cornice, it is necessary to study the features of the walls and ceilings. Installation of structures above the ceiling is not recommended. It is necessary to retreat 5-10 cm.
In the places marked with a pencil, holes are drilled using a drill with Pobedit drill bits. Then the dowels are hammered in, then the cornice is secured with screws. After this, additional fasteners for the canvas are inserted and finally secured.
How to install a cornice or baguette
All cornices and baguettes are screwed only with self-tapping screws. The assembly process can be divided into three parts:
- First, you need to use a hammer drill with a concrete drill to make the required number of holes for the dowels in order to install the mount for the rod on one side;
- Attach a cornice or baguette and, using a level, select the locations for future holes required for the second fastening;
- Drill holes for the second fastening, and then install the structure as required by the instructions.
Samples in the interior
There is a video on how to hang curtains. A variation of tulle and curtains in calm shades is suitable for the living room. The beauty of the drapery attracts admiring attention, leaving the supporting system invisible.
For rooms in a minimalist style, a curtain rod made of metal would be a suitable option. Heavy curtains with shiny thread on the eyelets create large folds.
Light curtains create contrast with the baguette cornice. Careful ruching at the top is held together with tape.
Curtains with hooks will create coziness in both the living room and the apartment in an ethnic style.
An easy way to create coziness on your balcony is to hang a Velcro curtain. Curtains can be hung on plastic windows.
You can create coziness in the room by correctly making accents in the interior using elegant window decoration. By decorating the window in an unusual way, you will be able to disguise certain shortcomings in both large and small rooms.

Main types and varieties
“Diversity pleases!” - they said in ancient Rome. However, today it is so great that it can confuse the average inexperienced person.
Curtains look harmonious and attractive with the correct selection of fabric and shape.
In order not to get lost in all this splendor, you need to have at least a basic understanding of their varieties and classification:
- Curtains. Perhaps the most common type in modern homes. Made from transparent or translucent fabric, they serve rather a decorative function, although they scatter sunlight quite well.
- Curtains. They provide good shading: heavy, dense material, stretching from ceiling to floor - massive throughout.
- Combi. All possible combinations of the two previous types. With an understanding of how to hang curtains beautifully, you can achieve a reasonable compromise between functionality and aesthetics.
- “Finnish” or roll. They differ in the way they open - from bottom to top. Made from solid fabric, compact.
- "Roman". They are similar to roller blinds. The main difference is that they are not rolled up, but folded like an accordion.
- "French". Fundamentally similar to “Finnish” ones, they stand out for their volume, richness and abundance of folds.
- "Austrian". They are distinguished by their special pomp, turning into a claim to luxury. Otherwise they resemble the previous type.
- "Italian". Voluminous, with an abundance of folds and a high rise. Their feature is that they are completely stationary (they do not move apart).
- "Japanese". Vertical, quite dense, but not very wide and, as a rule, with a characteristic pattern. The operating principle is sliding.
In addition, there is the so-called “designer” type: thread, “cafe” or photo-printed curtains, designed to enhance or give a special atmosphere to the room.
Final touches
In order to further decorate the room, you can hang lambrequins, which are curtain drapes installed on the upper parts of the window opening. Installing lambrequins is a completely optional process. However, correctly selected lambrequins attract attention much more than ordinary curtains.
Soft lambrequins can be hung on curtains using textile tape. Rigid lambrequins, as a rule, are connected to the cornice or, again, using textile tape to the back side of the baguette.
Ideas for inspiration
It all depends on the wishes and tastes of the homeowner, examples of photographs and flights of fancy.
Classics with symmetrical curtains look beautiful, asymmetrically arranged curtains look original.
Curtains hang in a modern and unusual way that violates the traditional image, for example, asymmetrical compositions on one side. For example, a long canvas that reaches the floor, and the second layer is a curtain just above the window sill. And here you will have to imagine well how the tulle will look in such a complex design.
- Multilayer compositions, such as curtains with light tulle or in combination with an airy veil, emphasize the chic interior of the room. Here you can play with interesting draperies and decorative elements in the form of lambrequins or elegant garters.
- An unusual option is to place the tulle in the foreground.
- An interesting multi-layer composition with asymmetrically sewn fabrics.
- Fans of the classic style should adhere to symmetry in the arrangement of curtains.
Regardless of the style in which the design of the room is made, the cornice must be durable and beautiful, the fastening of the curtains must be reliable, and the curtain composition itself must delight in its appearance, creating the uniqueness of the room and testifying to the excellent taste of the owners of the house.
Unusual ways
If it is not possible to mount a cornice, then there are ways to place products on windows without it:
- Fishing line;
- Velcro;
- Hooks;
The first option on how to hang curtains correctly is the simplest analogue of a string cornice. Perfectly withstands airy and weightless fabrics. This option is preferable for curtaining loggias. You will need nails and a hammer. The fishing line is passed through the border of the curtain and tied to nails on opposite sides. The line should be properly tensioned.
The second option is with Velcro. One part is glued to the window, and the other to the curtain itself. For greater reliability, you can secure the Velcro with small screws.
The third option is elegant hooks. This option is quite reliable and, unlike those described above, will withstand heavy fabric. The hooks are attached along the window opening at the same distance. Rings are attached to the curtains and the curtains can be hung. If done carefully, the result will be a rather creative window decoration.
