The original design idea is a homemade piece, reminiscent of a painting by an abstract artist, made from colored wool scraps sequentially glued to each other.

From old sheets you can create a very original pillowcase for a decorative pillow. There are many ways to decorate a product:
- sew on the applique;
- create flowers or waves from fabric;
- decorate a plain pillowcase made from a sheet with paint or homemade stamps;
- sew fabric strips to create a fringe.
Kitchen textiles
A practical option for reusing old bed linen is to create kitchen towels, as well as:
- mat for drying dishes;
- potholders and hot stands;
- serving napkins.
To create kitchen textiles you do not need any special skills. All you need is a sewing machine, scissors and accuracy. If you have a small child, cotton cuts can be used as a bib or napkins for dishes.
How to remove odor from a cotton mattress?
Sprinkle a thin layer of salt on the surface of the mattress - it absorbs odors well. You can also use cat litter absorbent or ground coffee. Leave for several hours, or better yet, overnight. Then sweep or vacuum away.

Sew a handle to the finished product to hang the container on a wall or door: this way you will save space on the floor.

Reference! The original name of the collection is “Kaamos” - literally translated “I want to sleep”, in honor of the story of the same name by A.P. Chekhov.
The colors, familiar to every Soviet person, and the velvety structure of the blanket are harmoniously combined with Swarovski rhinestones.
Each coat in the collection is made in a single copy, handmade by Marit Ilison herself and by skilled seamstresses. And one of the products is Marit’s grandmother’s former bedspread, under which the designer herself slept as a child.
You can certainly use the phrase “I went to work in a blanket today” in the literal sense!

Dog toy
Take an old blanket, cut it into several neat strips and braid it into a large braid. This will save you a significant amount of money at the veterinary store!
Pet bed
Another alternative option. The bed is suitable for dogs, and if you build a secluded place (for example, with a roof), then, of course, cats will also like it.
Wigwam
Who hasn't built children's houses out of chairs and blankets! Choose a product of a suitable color, make the base from stable wooden planks. Now build a real home for little dreamers!

Bedspread like grandma's
An old Soviet blanket can be turned into a patchwork style blanket (literally translated as “Product made from patches”). We offer the easiest way to make a bright little thing.
- Cut the blanket with different patterns into 8x8 cm squares, with a 5 mm allowance.
- Choose the shape of the future product and arrange the squares by color.
- Sew into blocks and join using plain stripes.
- Place the finished product in a vacuum bag and store until the warm season. Perfect for a picnic with loved ones!
Sleeping bag
Do you like to travel? You can make a sleeping bag from an old bedspread. You just need to buy a zipper.
If the ideas seem complicated to you, still don’t rush to throw away your favorite blanket. You will definitely get seats for outdoor furniture or covers for it! You can also use it as packing when moving. Wrap furniture and secure with clear film. The blanket will protect against scratches and allow you to maintain its original appearance.
