How to correctly decipher the markings and symbols on Bosch washing machines

Having come to the store to buy a new Bosch washing machine, buyers are interested in purchasing a model that is assembled in Germany, or, at least, in the EU. Why? Yes, because the build quality of the “Europeans” is much higher. Sellers can “slip” a machine assembled in China or even Russia under the guise of German technology. Is it possible to recognize deception right there in the store? Of course you can, the Bosch washing machine markings will help us. If you read it correctly, you can get all the information you need, so let's learn how to read it.

Countries in which Bosch washing machines are assembled

Some Bosch washing machines have an index that means the following:

  • OE – denotes one of the former CIS countries: Russia, Ukraine or Belarus.
  • EE - Spain.
  • BY – Eastern Europe.
  • GB - England.
  • EU – either Eastern or Western Europe.

Are you unplugging your washing machine?

Oh yes! No

In another embodiment, the country of assembly is determined by a three-digit letter code. Examples:

  • WAS, WLX – Germany.
  • WAE – Türkiye or Poland. The exception is the model marked WAE28441, which is also German.
  • WLF - often Germany, and if the number code ends in 4 or 5 - China.
  • WAA - Türkiye.
  • WOT - France.
  • WOR - Poland. Legacy WFX - also Poland.
  • WLM - China.

Ask a Question

Important! The three-digit letter code is usually placed at the end of the machine marking and should not be separated by spaces. That is, if, for example, the designation is “W AE 24460 OE”, then W AE does not mean that the machine is from Turkey, there is a different decoding, discussed in more detail in one of the sections below (more details for this example: W - washing machine in general, A - front-loading and E - capable of being fully integrated into furniture).

For which country was the Bosch washing machine produced, how to find out

The last two letters indicate the country or region for which the washing machine was manufactured. Don't be confused! This is not the country of manufacture, but specifically for which country the washing machine was made. You can find out where the washing machine is assembled from the serial number.

  • OE - washing machine for sale in the Russian Federation, Belarus, Ukraine.
  • EE - Spain, Portugal, Bosch shares European and Spanish markets
  • GB - Great Britain, a separate line of washing machines is also produced for the UK
  • EU - Europe (Eastern and Western) This includes all other countries in Europe.

General explanation of the markings of various models

This image will help you understand clearly.

Bosch washing machine markings

The first letter W denotes the type of equipment - a washing machine.

The next one is the CMA type. In the example given, the English L indicates that this is a narrow washing machine with front-loading of laundry into a 45-centimeter drum.

Other letters are deciphered as follows:

  • I - front built-in model.
  • A - frontal type, normal depth 60 centimeters.
  • O - vertical machine.
  • V - drying machine.
  • K - built-in washer-dryer.
  • E - fully built-in, with a hinged door.

The third letter is a series:

  • L, K, T, R - sixth series;
  • A, P, G, H - fourth;
  • S, W - eighth;
  • Y - Home Professional series.

Do you store laundry in the washing machine?

Oh yes! No.

In later models, the same letter, however, means the class of the machine, and there are the following options:

  • S - class F, premium with a load of 8 kilograms.
  • E - FV, middle class.
  • T - middle class PV with vertical laundry loading.
  • A - FX, basic class.
  • R - basic PX class with vertical laundry loading.
  • V - class P20.
  • X - forty-centimeter middle class SV.
  • D - class WV.
  • C - class WX.
  • B - premium class WW68, nine kilograms of laundry.

Next comes a digital indication of the spin speed. In the example given - 24, this means 1200 revolutions every minute (that is, multiplication by 50 times). Others explain it this way:

  • Number 12 - 600 revolutions;
  • 16 - 800 rpm;
  • 20 - 1000 rpm;
  • 28 - 1400 rpm;
  • 32 - 1600 rpm;
  • 36 - 1800 rpm;
  • And 40 - 2000 rpm.

Another combination with numbers is the type of control (for example, an electronic display - just 27).

The next number is the design of the washing machine. Almost always this is 1 - classic.

And the last two letters are the country of production; they were discussed in more detail in the section above.

Episode 2

These are narrow washing machines with horizontal and vertical loading, which are suitable for small bathrooms. They have a small load of laundry (usually 5 kg) and modest functionality. The display is not provided here, as are other optional components.

6WLF 20164 - model 2 series

As you can see, washing machines from the famous German manufacturer are presented on the Russian market in all their diversity. There are both the most expensive premium class models and the most simple ones on sale. Bosch combines ergonomics and reliability.

The machines are combined into a series of Bosch washing machines according to several different criteria. Classixx, Maxx, Logixx, HomeProfessional and Avantixx markings indicate the class of the device. Marking by numbers - 2, 4, 6, 8 - reflects the generation of washing machines. As a rule, the higher the series number, the more modern the device we have.

Designations on the Bosch SMA

So, examples are given and it’s worth clearly deciphering the sign of Bosch washing machines for a better understanding:

WLT 20271 OE. It is enough to check the previous sections and understand the following:

  • The first letter is always “W” because that is what represents the washing machine.
  • The second is L. A narrow forty-five-centimeter body. Loading option - horizontal.
  • The third is T. That is, this is the sixth episode.
  • Next, the number 20 is a thousand revolutions.
  • Further figures, as stated above, are control options. “27” indicates the presence of an electronic display.
  • Number 1 is a classic appearance option.
  • And OE - this model was produced in Ukraine, Russia or Belarus (most often - Russia).

Do you turn off the water tap after washing?

Oh yes! No.

This is a simple example, but there are shortcuts as well. What can you say about, for example, WM 16 S740?

Everything is clear about W and M. But then the series is skipped - this happens, but in this case the next 2 digits are still revolutions, that is, 16 is 800 revolutions per minute.

And then something new appeared: the letter S breaks the digital list.

In this case, it denotes the platform: in this particular example, the new F20. And there are:

  • E - FV sixty centimeters.
  • A - FX sixty centimeters Entry.
  • X - SV 44 cm.
  • F - SX 44 centimeters Entry.
  • T - PV platform vertical.

Then the numbers that are not particularly interesting and important are the type of design and design, which is why they were not examined in more detail. But the country of origin is not indicated here - again, this is possible.

This is a variant of a slightly “shortened and expanded sign”. It’s also useful to be able to understand these, but with the explanations above it won’t be difficult.

The difference between the series in the Bosch line

Automatic washing machines developed by Bosch differ in series. Each series includes certain criteria and a set of functionality. There are 4 device classes:

  1. Classixx is the base class. The quality of washing is ensured by a minimum of functions, which include selecting a washing program and starting the wash.
  2. Maxx is a comfort class series. Devices of this type incorporate technology to save water and electricity. You can load from 5 to 7 kg into the drum.
  3. Avantixx – machines with advanced capabilities. The devices are equipped with an electronic control system. Basic functions: quick wash, direct injection, delayed start. A single load of laundry ranges from 4 to 7 kg.
  4. Logixx – devices in this series use innovative solutions: touch control, delayed start, foam control, leakage protection. Corrugation on the inside of the drum allows for better washing. The number after the name of this series indicates the limit of downloadable items.
  5. Home Professional - full-size Premium class machines. Maximum load of laundry – up to 9 kg. There is a TFT display on the front panel. Design innovations include anti-vibration and stain removal systems, asymmetrical drum arrangement, and maximum spin mode.

According to the time of release, the difference is based on the numbers.

Series 2 is a budget option, includes first-generation machines with mechanical control, and features front and vertical loading.

Series 4 – machines have a display and advanced washing functions. Their main advantage is their cost-effectiveness.

Series 6 - machines with small dimensions allow a large drum load (up to 7 kg of dry laundry) and are equipped with a drum of a unique design. Provides protection against voltage surges in the network.

Series 8 is the most high-tech line with a maximum of useful functions: noise reduction, wrinkle prevention and others. The machines are equipped with an inverter motor and a tank capacity of up to 9 kg.

The series height indicator indicates a greater compliance of modern washing machines with the requirements of today.

Washing equipment from a renowned manufacturer from Germany is characterized by efficiency and reliability. Among competitors, German-assembled SMAs have priority in terms of quality. The Germans provide a guarantee of up to 16 years for their products. In many Russian families, Bosch washing equipment has been serving faithfully for over 20 years. Complaints about technical faults come mainly from the Russian assembly.

Deciphering the FD number

FD is an abbreviation for “Factory Date”, which literally translates as “factory date”. The number is a combination of four digits that indicate the decade, year and month of manufacture of the washing machine model. In more detail, the numbers are encrypted like this:

  • the first digit reflects the decade (options 0 and 5-9 are possible, where “9” means the years from 2010 to 2022, “0” means from 2020 to 2029, “8” means from 2000 to 2009, “7” means 1990-1999, under “6” – 1980-1989, under “5” – 1970-1979);
  • the second digit is the year in the decade (if “3”, then the third, etc.);

  • the two extreme digits are the month according to the serial number of the year (for example, “08” means that the washing machine was released in August).

The FD number encrypts the production date of the washing machine - month, year and decade.

Accordingly, the Bosch washing machine with FD number 8412 was released from the factory in December 2009, and the machine with FD number 9809 was released in September 2022. The factory code of the newest equipment will start with “0”, and the oldest one will have “5” or “6” in front. In a similar way, you can determine the Factory Date for washing machines of the Siemens and Gaggenau brands.

The best built-in oven – Bosch, Electrolux or Gefest?

Ovens and hobs are increasingly being purchased separately from each other. This is convenient because you can use products from different brands and choose the best option for specific purposes. In order not to waste money, you need to pay attention to different criteria: equipment, controls, functionality, customer reviews and technical specifications. The device should not only be inexpensive and beautiful, but also easy to use. I don’t want to spend most of my time washing off frozen grease or repairing household appliances every six months.

The optimal solution for your home would be a built-in oven from one of the trusted manufacturers. The most popular and reliable brands with a large number of sales on Yandex.Market are Bosch, Electrolux, Hephaestus and Hansa. We have selected the best electric ovens with independent installation. This means that they are not tied to the hob and can be placed in absolutely any part of the kitchen. Moreover, the devices are built-in, so they can be installed in a special niche without any problems. The following oven models are included in the comparison:

Bosch
HBF 534 EB R
is a popular and stylish device for evenly cooking food at high temperatures.

Electrolux
EZB 52410 AK
is an oven with a large and bright display, which is regularly ordered and discussed on various sites.

Power and temperature

The energy consumption class is the same for all presented devices - A. Bosch has maximum power, therefore, this model produces the highest temperature. Not all customers need 275°C on a regular basis, but it is nice that an expanded range of dishes can be cooked in the oven. For example, pizza dough is baked exclusively at high temperatures. You can also use the oven as an alternative to a dryer for vegetables, fruits, fish or meat.

Another interesting characteristic is the minimum temperature. Hansa wins here, because only she is able to stop at 30°C (for other models, heating starts at 50°C). This is the best option for making yeast dough. The extended range is also useful for defrosting meat, long-term simmering or sous-vide cooking. Hansa also has the best heating speed. The temperature of 150°C inside the oven is reached in just 4 minutes - this is 20% faster than competitors.

The power of the device directly affects not only the temperature, but also the cooking speed. That is why Bosch becomes the leader in the nomination. The other models also bake dishes quickly, only Hephaestus is a little behind. However, this oven will be a good solution for buyers who use the oven regularly. A device that is too powerful can affect the operation of other household appliances, and the electricity bill is unlikely to please you.
