Aquafumigator Raptor: instructions for use, reviews

Aquafumigator Raptor

- a very interesting and unusual device that helps to effectively fight all types of insects.
The unusualness of this tool is that it has a non-standard operating principle for other devices. It is somewhat reminiscent of the “hot” fog used by professional pest control services, as well as a smoke bomb impregnated with an insecticidal preparation. The aquafumigator
directly combines the advantages of a smoke bomb and “hot” fog, but does not have the disadvantages inherent in these methods of combating pests.
The product works autonomously and does not waste a person’s time and energy: there is absolutely no need to bring the device to all the cracks and treat their hiding places with it. You just need to place the steam fumigator in the water and it will start working independently. It is worth noting that Raptor
is absolutely harmless to small children and pets. It does not spoil interior items and furniture in the home.

of the aquafumigator is especially important

- it can be purchased for the price you would pay for 5-8 professional hot fog treatments.

Of course, every manufacturer praises their product. The same applies to the Raptor aquafumigator. The packaging says it can instantly kill any type of insect. To confirm or refute this statement, let’s talk about the aquafumigator in more detail in this article.

How does the Raptor aquafumigator work?

The key specificity of the Raptor aquafumigator lies directly in how it works.
The device delivers toxic substances into the body of parasites along with steam, which disperses throughout the home and easily reaches small crevices and hard-to-reach objects. In other words, water vapor is used in the device as a carrier of toxic chemicals. It has a higher temperature compared to aerosol sprays and atomizers, settling on surfaces more slowly. Thus, it fills the entire room, leaving no empty spaces where parasites could hide.

Water vapor itself is not a fire hazard, because the fumigator cannot catch fire. In addition, it has a neutral odor compared to a smoke bomb, which has an unpleasant odor for another two weeks.

Steam is generated when the steam generator comes into contact with the insecticidal solution. All that is required from the user is to install a metal steam generator in a container with a working solution and wait a little. When steam begins to appear, it passes through all the cracks, cracks, the space behind baseboards and wallpaper, behind household appliances, and so on. Thus, insect pests sometimes do not even have time to crawl out of their nests or feeding places.

Of course, the penetrating power of steam is not unlimited. To effectively bait some types of parasites, you need to open access so that the pesticide penetrates into the most inaccessible places. For example, if the bedbug nest is in textiles or kitchen appliances.

Pros and cons of spray treatment

Like any insecticide, Raptor preparations have their pros and cons: Pros:

  • It does not have a strong specific odor - it is available with a floral fragrance.
  • Does not spoil surfaces - does not leave stains or streaks.
  • The drug is ready for processing - no need to dilute or use additional products.
  • Speed of action - after 10 - 15 minutes the first result is noticeable.
  • The residual effect of the drugs is protection for up to a month.
  • Availability - sold in markets, specialized stores, and the Internet.
  • Price varies by region and can range from 150 - 300 rubles per bottle.
  • Slightly toxic.
  • Effective in the initial stages of infection and prevention.
  • Toxic if inhaled - use a respirator.

How does aquafumigator insecticide affect insects?

The manufacturer indicates the main active ingredient in the aquafumigator is gokylate (or cyphenothrin).
Also among the ingredients is a steam generator, which forms a huge amount of steam upon contact with water and accelerates its release into the air. The aquafumigator also contains binding elements. Cyphenothrin

- the most important component of the aquafumigator. It is he who directly poisons the parasites. It is also called gokilat in another way. This name was given to it by Japanese scientists who were the first to synthesize this substance in the laboratory.

Gokilat

is a pyrethroid with an acute nerve-paralytic effect. However, it is harmful only to invertebrates, and to warm-blooded animals it is of low toxicity. Molecules of the substance can penetrate the body, or rather the nerve cells of the pest through its respiratory tract or chitinous cover. Gokylate destroys these cells and slows down the activity of the nervous system. As a result, nervous paralysis occurs and then death.

Due to its contact action, the Raptor aquafumigator copes well with the following insects and arthropods:

  • Various types of beetles,
  • silverfish,
  • House ticks,
  • Larvae of mosquitoes and flies,
  • woodlice,
  • Food and clothes moths,
  • flycatchers,
  • Ants,
  • cockroaches,
  • fleas,
  • Bedbugs.

Experiments were carried out on all these insects to test their reaction to the aquafumigator in laboratory conditions.
In all cases he showed good results. Since cyphenothrin

It is extremely rarely used in everyday life; pests resistant to it have not yet appeared. Therefore, it is considered an extremely effective drug against parasitic insect species.

Along with other substances of this type, cyphenothrin has a pronounced residual effect after it has completely settled on the surface of the home. It is due to this that those insects that were in the most inaccessible places at the time of treatment and began to crawl to the surface after disinfestation are exterminated.

Unfortunately, gokylat has little effect on insect eggs. This occurs as a result of the fact that pest eggs have a very dense protective shell. Even if the active substance gets on the surface of the egg, it will not be able to reach the insect embryo. As a result, larvae may emerge from the remaining bedbug eggs to the surface. However, they die immediately upon contact with the settled insecticide. If the infestation is very strong, some individuals from the colony may survive and then it may be necessary to resort to using the aquafumigator again.

Negative sides

There are a couple of disadvantages: it has a specific smell and the inability to destroy bedbug eggs. No product can destroy egg laying, so you will have to treat it twice. The second time pest control procedures are carried out a couple of weeks after new insects hatch.

The gel fumigator for bedbugs is quite easy to use. It has a contact, intestinal effect and can be used as a repeller. It will not be entirely effective in the fight against this type of pest. Bedbugs feed on human blood, so creating bait for them is very difficult. Most often, this product is used in non-residential premises, when getting rid of pests is not an urgent task.

An aerosol fumigator has a nerve paralytic effect. Has intestinal and contact effects. It is a fairly effective remedy against bedbugs. When the parasite gets on the shell, the active substance begins to actively move inside and disrupt the metabolic processes in its body. Before the beetle dies, it can infect and kill at least two more “brothers”. The most effective effect will be if you find all the nests of parasites and spray them with the product. When treating the entire room, the result will be practically zero.

Instructions for use

To activate the Raptor aquafumigator, you will need to make a minimum of effort. After all, everything necessary to activate it is already included in the kit:

  • First, you need to remove the plastic container from the box, and from the container - the bag with the working solution and the metal container.
  • Next, you will need to pour the working fluid into a container and lower the container into the water with the holes facing up,
  • When steam starts emanating from the container, you should immediately leave the room and close the door tightly, leaving the aquafumigator to work for several hours.

To achieve maximum effect from the treatment, it is important to prepare your home for it:

  • Move furniture and household appliances away from the walls so that steam can easily penetrate the paths of movement of pests,
  • If there are bedbugs in the apartment, all bedding should be removed from the beds and the sofas should be moved away from the beds and away from the walls.
  • If you are fighting cockroaches, moths, ants, skin beetles, silverfish, then it is recommended to open all cabinets and chests of drawers, and also move them away from the walls,
  • When baiting clothes moths, remove all clothes from closets and place them on upholstered furniture.
  • It is also necessary to pack all food products in tight bags.
  • Close all doors and windows in the room to prevent the active substance from escaping.
  • It is recommended to close the aquarium in the room with a lid and turn off the container in it.

After this, you need to remove people and pets from the premises.
Houseplants do not need to be removed - the insecticide is absolutely safe for them. One device is enough to treat 20-30 square meters of room. If the room is larger, then it is better to purchase several sets of aquafumigator at once.

According to the instructions, the treated room should be kept closed for 4 hours. However, if you have the opportunity, it is better to leave the apartment for 12-24 hours.

After you return back, open all the windows in the house and ventilate the room well. Next, wipe with a damp cloth the places that you and your loved ones most often come into contact with. It is better not to carry out wet cleaning in the apartment. The longer the insecticide remains on the surface of objects, the stronger and longer-lasting the effect it will have.

If after treatment you notice bedbug larvae in the apartment, you need to re-disinfect it using an aquafumigator after about 7-14 days. However, most often re-processing is not required.

Preparing the premises

The treated area must be prepared in advance. This is the most important stage of disinfection. What to do:

  1. Turn off the fire alarm. Vapors can serve as a signal for a false alarm.
  2. Remove dishes and hygiene items.
  3. Wrap the hood with adhesive tape. You can also use a plastic bag.
  4. Upholstered furniture should be laid out and cabinets should be left open.
  5. To reduce the loss of the active substance, the windows should be closed.

As soon as the device is activated, the process can be considered complete. No additional actions are required.

Is the aquafumigator safe?

Like any other insecticide, the Raptor aquafumigator directly requires the user to take precautions.
To date, not a single case of cifenotrin poisoning from an aquafumigator has been identified in Russia, requiring hospitalization or life-threatening. However, if the instructions and safety rules are grossly ignored, the following symptoms may appear:

  • headache,
  • nausea,
  • vomit,
  • diarrhea,
  • skin rashes,
  • weakness,
  • dry cough.

To avoid all these consequences, you must follow safety precautions:

  • Before starting treatment, remove everyone from the apartment,
  • Return to the room no earlier than 3 hours of operation of the aquafumigator,
  • Ventilate the rooms well after using the device.

The insecticide has no effect on wallpaper, furniture and other surfaces. After using it, no traces remain.

average price

The cost of the Raptor aquafumigator significantly exceeds the price of aerosols, gels and traps and ranges from 430 to 600 rubles.

It should be noted that such pricing is fully justified by the effectiveness of the product. It works no worse than the substances offered for treatment by exterminators.

Only in this case, to carry out the procedure, there is no need to move all the furniture to provide access to the baseboards.

Plus, the smoke bomb works independently and does not require human intervention, therefore, does not have a harmful effect on the body.

How does an aquafumigator differ from “hot” fog and smoke bombs?

As we said above, the aquafumigator is similar to “hot” fog and a smoke bomb in its principle of operation. However, the aquafumigator has some advantages that distinguish it from these types of premises treatment against parasites:

  • What distinguishes Raptor from a smoke bomb is its fire safety and the fact that it does not emit any noticeable odor or fumes into the atmosphere. And unlike a checker, an aquafumigator does not cover furniture, walls, ceilings and floors with a white coating. In addition, Raptor is completely safe for the health of pregnant women. The same cannot be said about a smoke bomb.
  • The smoke device also contains an insecticide, to which most types of pests have already developed an addiction. For example, checkers based on permethrin and cypermethrin. Experiments have shown that if you light a saber near a cockroach and leave it even for five hours, it will not die.
  • Raptor differs from “hot” fog by its low cost. Now in hardware stores it is possible to purchase a complete set of aquafumigators for 450-500 rubles. But calling a specialist to treat an apartment with “hot” fog will cost the owners 3,000-4,000 rubles.

Types of bedbug repellers and their effectiveness

The market offers devices with different operating principles:

emitting high-frequency sounds, turned out to be completely useless in the fight against bedbugs, since parasites use smell rather than hearing to communicate. Having been the first to go on sale, such devices lost the trust of buyers for being ineffective, but this did not stop the manufacturers; they switched to other devices to fool the consumer.

In the case of mosquitoes, such devices are very useful and effective. Manufacturers recommend using them in combination with insecticides against bedbugs.

The essence of their action is the production of electromagnetic oscillations that resonate with the electromagnetic impulses of the parasite’s nervous system, which leads to discomfort for the latter, causing the insect to crawl away from the source of these waves or die. Indeed, adults who were under the influence of electromagnetic radiation lost activity and could not find a source of blood.

In combination with safe chemical compounds they can be useful, but as an independent repellent method they are not.

Combined bedbug repellers

True, if very strong sources of ultrasound and electromagnetic radiation, usually used against moles and rats, are used against bedbugs, they can be expelled. These powerful devices are prohibited for the simple reason that, when placed in a bedroom, they can cause occupants such severe distress that they would rather live with bedbugs than with constant headaches and insomnia.

Aromatic repellers (fumigators)

This is the name for devices that have a special plate with an aromatic substance, which, when heated, emits an odor unpleasant for bedbugs. Unfortunately, their effect is short-lived. Because when the bug is full, it can stay away from the victim, since everything in the area stinks of bedbugs, lavender, tansy or wormwood, but when it wants blood, nothing will stop it.

A fumigator will not be able to destroy all the parasites in the apartment, but under certain circumstances there is no way without it:

  • When residents cannot perform pest control for some reason;
  • When you need to spend the night in a new, untrustworthy room.

Fumigators work quite simply. They are plugged into the outlet closest to the bed. Scarer sections are hung at the bottom of the bed. For these purposes, moth preparations Raptor and Mosquitall, as well as fumigators: Raid, Raptor, Mosquitall, are suitable. But if bedbugs have already settled in the mattress, repellent sections and fumigators will not relieve sleeping people from being bitten.

Folk remedies

What have people not tried in order to somehow protect themselves from bloodsuckers?

  • The first thing to use was wormwood. They washed the floors with its decoctions and sprayed various secluded places where bedbugs could ambush. They were placed under mattresses and beds, in corners and near the door, so that parasites could not get into the house from neighbors. Wormwood was used dried, fresh, and once upon a time it really helped. Tansy was used in the same way.
  • Pelargonium on the windowsill in the bedroom or a bedbug bush is better than some fumigators and today copes with repelling bed bugs.
  • It is more difficult with vinegar, denatured ethyl alcohol and kerosene. Here the smell is stronger and, first of all, it affects humans, and only then bedbugs. Therefore, these products were considered obsolete, toxic, and therefore unsafe for people.
  • You can also try to freeze bedbugs out in winter or overheat them with industrial hair dryers or steam.

But with all the convenience of using folk remedies, it should be understood that they are not all for killing insects and do not solve the problem globally. But what can replace them?

Is the aquafumigator compatible with other products in the Raptor line?

Due to the principle of operation, the aquafumigator can be used with other means for exterminating parasites, including those from Raptor.
For example, if you are exterminating cockroaches, you can use Raptor insecticidal gel, as well as traps and baits from the same manufacturer, to block their entry into your home. The pest shelter can be directly treated with a poisonous aerosol, either from the Raptor line or from a line from another manufacturer.

If you want to destroy bedbugs, it is possible to simultaneously use the Raptor aerosol against these bedbugs and an aquafumigator.

Wave impact on the pest, electrofumigators

Most products are toxic. Before carrying out disinfestation, it is necessary to remove everyone from the premises, and only then poison the bedbugs. A safe means for pest control is electromagnetic and ultrasonic radiation. Such devices have a fairly large range of action.

An ultrasonic fumigator is a completely harmless pest control device that repels bedbugs using ultrasonic waves. This product does not develop immunity in pests, which cannot be said about chemicals to which insects become accustomed over time. A person cannot perceive the waves that the device produces, and ultrasound encourages pests to leave their usual habitat.

Electrofumigators against bedbugs act in the same way as against mosquitoes. A plate is inserted into the device or a nozzle with liquid is placed. When the temperature rises, after being turned on, the active substance begins to evaporate into the air. It is not recommended to use this device indoors with children. The device ends immediately after being disconnected from the network, so insects can return again.

How to increase the efficiency of using an aquafumigator

Despite the fact that the aquafumigator penetrates well into the most inaccessible places, it is recommended to prepare some of them for processing.
For example, it often happens that bedbugs have infested a dilapidated sofa and the upholstery is sticking out of it. From this nest, pests can spread throughout the entire area of the house.

If the upholstery is thick enough, the steam will not be able to penetrate deep inside and destroy the bloodsuckers. Then you need to pull the upholstery off the soft parts and lay it on the floor so that the insecticidal composition of the aquafumigator covers the filler.

When exterminating cockroaches and moths, it is better to open all cabinets, chests of drawers, wardrobes and other furniture, including kitchen furniture.

In order to completely remove pests of any kind from your home, you need to find ways of their entry into the apartment and block them. This is the only way to achieve 100 percent efficiency from using the Raptor aquafumigator. If this is not done, processing will need to be carried out several times. And, of course, we should not forget about preventive measures.

Important points

In order for the treatment to be of high quality and to avoid unpleasant consequences, there are several tips for using an aquafumigator:

  1. if there is a fire alarm in the room, it is recommended to turn it off for the duration of the treatment;
  2. If possible, remove or securely package all food products to prevent toxic fumes from leaching into the food;
  3. the container with the tube should be located in the center of the room and installed on a flat surface;
  4. to treat a large area, several aquafumigators are needed;
  5. Repeated treatment, if necessary, should be carried out no earlier than 14 days after the first disinfestation;
  6. To prevent toxic fumes from being absorbed into clothing, it must be removed; it is advisable to additionally pack things in bags, especially children’s wardrobe;
  7. After disinfestation, wet cleaning should be done to remove the toxin from all surfaces.

Gel

Gel Raptor is a ready-to-use product in a tube with a long spout for greater ease of application. It can be used as a main treatment when there are a small number of bedbugs, or it will help as an auxiliary plus to other drugs.

The main advantage of the gel is the absolute absence of odor, safety for people and animals living in the house.

The active substance of the drug is lambda-cyhalometrin, which has a contact-intestinal effect. The substance paralyzes the nervous system of bedbugs and leads to their rapid death. It has a parasite-attracting effect lasting 1-2 days. An infected bug brings poison to the nest and, through a chain reaction, infects its relatives.

Instructions

Prepare the room by providing access to all skirting boards around the perimeter. Further instructions for use are as follows:

  1. apply the gel dotted or dotted around the perimeter of the apartment;
  2. due to the transparency of the product and the inability to leave behind stains, it can be applied to any surface;
  3. move furniture into place.

Using the gel is very simple, and after a while, if necessary, it can be easily washed off with plain water. To achieve maximum effect, it is better to treat the entire apartment at once, and not just the room where the bedbugs were found.

After a month, re-treatment is required.

Minus: the effect does not occur immediately.

Indications for use

"Tsifoks" is intended for the extermination of the following pests and parasites:

  1. Bloch.
  2. Cockroaches.
  3. Klopov.
  4. Much.
  5. Scabies, ixodid and rat mites.
  6. Muravyov.
  7. Lice.

The drug is recommended to be used:

  1. In foci of pediculosis infection.
  2. In the area where scabies spreads.
  3. In structures and cars of the subway and railway.
  4. In open areas of the natural environment.
  5. Indoors.

Important! Under no circumstances should you treat reservoirs intended to provide water to residential areas, as well as in protected areas.

The toxicity of the product requires handling in a protective suit and in a ventilated area.

To proceed to processing, you should prepare a working solution.

Rules for preparing the emulsion:

  1. The drug is diluted with water and processing begins immediately, without delay for several hours. Water can be used from any drinking source or reservoir. The solution requires thorough dissolution of the product in water. To do this, when mixing the components, you need to stir constantly for about 7 minutes.
  2. After preparing the emulsion, it must be poured into a special container with a sprayer (whether it is a professional sprayer such as an Automax or an aerosol generator or a small one), which is capable of evenly covering the surfaces with the insecticide.
  3. To kill insects indoors, it is recommended to pour the emulsion into a special container capable of spewing droplets with a diameter of about 150-300 microns.
  4. To process large open areas, it is advisable to install the device on a car. A prerequisite for the sprayer: drops with a diameter of 25-155 microns.
  5. Fine-droplet sprays are commonly used to poison mosquitoes. To do this, make a solution with the drug in diesel or other oil in a ratio of 1:1-10, respectively. 400 ml of product is enough to treat 1 hectare.

Important! Be careful not to exceed the recommended dose per area.

For a certain type of pests and parasites, there is a drug consumption table given below.

  5. Frames of sofas and beds.
  6. Wallpaper joints.
  7. Corners of shelves and drawers.
  8. The reverse side of technical devices.

The effect of the drug begins within 20 minutes. Pests and parasites crawl out of their hiding places into visible areas to die.

After treatment, you should leave the room for at least 10 hours and open all windows. Need to clean up after returning

Particular attention should be paid to surfaces in contact with humans - tabletops (wipe with a solution of water and soda or soap), sofas, curtains (vacuum or wash in hot water).

The product has no effect on eggs, but hatched individuals end up on treated surfaces and are also destroyed.

Features of choice

First of all, it is necessary to pay attention to the safety and effectiveness of the poison. All fumigators have their advantages and disadvantages.

  1. If the safety of the inhabitants of the house comes first, then it is best to choose an electric fumigator or an ultrasonic device that can repel not only pests, but also prevent rodents from entering the house.
  2. When it comes to getting rid of bugs quickly, the preferred method is a steam device. In non-residential premises, if there is no rush, you can use gels.

Any chemical pest control will have to be used at least twice, because not a single repeller can affect eggs. The ideal option would be to move out of the house for a couple of days and thoroughly treat the bedbugs with a strong chemical. Before returning home, you should thoroughly clean all floors. This method will be the most effective.

When choosing a means to eliminate insects, it is necessary to take into account the biological characteristics of a particular type of parasite. For example, bait products will act slowly on bedbugs; you will have to wait for the moment until the beetle runs across the smeared area of the floor. Beetles feed on human blood, so intestinal exposure in this case would be inappropriate; a contact method is required.

Fumitox

Fumitox for bedbugs is sold in the form of a gel placed in a syringe with a dispenser. The product contains active permethrin. The drug is odorless and after application retains its original properties for about 2 weeks. The gel is used to treat baseboards, furniture, cracks in floors, and bed legs.

Caution should be exercised near soiled objects, furniture, wallpaper, as the resulting stains are difficult to remove.

The effectiveness of the drug is inferior to aerosols and sprays. Poisoning of parasites is possible only after direct contact with the substance. Moreover, the gel is not dangerous for eggs, which is fraught with the unhindered growth of a new generation.
