Adhesive Desmokol Sar 306 for the manufacture and repair of shoes

This polyurethane adhesive went on sale on our market not so long ago, but, thanks to its excellent adhesive properties, it quickly gained popularity among other compounds used for gluing surfaces made of various materials. Durability, reliability, and most importantly - the ability to repair shoes at home with your own hands - this is why Desmokol is appreciated by consumers.

General requirements

The composition of shoe glue is very specific. This is due to the fact that when gluing boots and shoes, it is important to fulfill a number of mandatory conditions.

  • Strength of connection - when walking, and even more so running, the load on different parts of the shoe is very different and constantly changing. Accordingly, the strength of the seam should be quite considerable.
  • On the other hand, the seam must remain flexible, otherwise it will be extremely inconvenient or even make the use of the product impossible.
  • Traces of repairs should not be visible. So the adhesive must be either colorless or exactly match the color of the shoe.
  • The seam must be waterproof since the shoes are exposed to moisture.

Only some types of products satisfy all these requirements: polyurethane adhesive SAR-306, for example, Sar-30 E and the like.

Expert advice

There is a trick that only experienced shoemakers know. If you plan to glue products that during operation will be constantly exposed to moisture, mechanical stress or temperature, then you need to add the Desmodur additive to the ingredients of Desmokol glue. Its amount should be approximately 7% of the total volume of glue. The resulting mixture will be ready to provide heat resistance and strength.

Glue Desmokol

The composition is made on the basis of polyurethane resins, the solvent is organic, so that the water resistance of the seam is ensured. The product is ideal for repairing boots and shoes, as it allows you to obtain a durable and flexible seam with a wide variety of material characteristics. In addition, the composition is colorless, so traces of repair remain invisible.

Glue Desmokol

Desmokol SAR-306 adhesive is designed for gluing a wide variety of parts. Basically, this is a combination of polyurethane and polyvinyl chloride soles with a fabric upper, elements made of oiled leather, artificial leather, vinyl plastic, and so on. In addition, the composition perfectly glues rubber, which makes it indispensable for repairing rubber boats, mattresses, lifebuoys, and so on.

SAR-306 is produced in different packaging: metal tubes with a volume of 50 ml, cans with a volume of 1 l, eurobuckets - 20 l and barrels - 200 l.

Reviews of positive features

Desmokol glue has proven itself excellent in production and shoe repair. It is able to reliably and quickly connect different materials, so it is often used when gluing the upper part of shoes, which are made of leather and fabric. In this case, the sole can be made of:

  • thermoplastic;
  • polyvinyl chloride;
  • polyurethane;
  • rubber.

According to users, the described mixture can be used to increase the adhesive properties of direct casting of polyvinyl chloride soles. The composition can be used for gluing oil-based thermoplastic elastomer and fatty leather. Consumers like that this glue can also be used to join the following materials:

  • glass;
  • plastics;
  • metal

If we compare with other adhesive compositions, Desmokol glue has higher strength and reliability. According to consumers, it has moisture-repellent properties and plasticity. After drying, the mixture remains colorless. Buyers like that the product can be purchased in different states and packaging, including:

  • 50 ml tubes;
  • 20-liter metal barrels;
  • liter jars;
  • 200 l barrels

On sale you can find glue in the form of granules, the latter of which, as users emphasize, must be diluted with a solvent yourself. When preparing the mixture, the quality of the glue will depend on how pure the acetone is used. This also applies to other solvents.

Instructions for use

Polyurethane shoe adhesive Desmokol SAR-306 is used for gluing, both hot and cold. In its original form, the composition has a liquid viscous consistency. When hardened, the organic solvent evaporates and the resins polymerize, forming a strong compound. As a rule, this requires elevated temperatures, since this makes the glue more active. However, you can do without this.

Peeled off sole

At the first stage, it is necessary to prepare the surfaces: clean them from dirt, dust, and be sure to degrease them with alcohol or gasoline.

Bonding must be done at temperatures not lower than +17, otherwise the composition becomes inactive.

  • Cold method - the composition is applied to the surfaces of the parts to be glued. Connect them and hold under pressure for at least 5–6 hours. The seam gains mechanical strength after a day.
  • Hot method - the composition is applied to the elements to be glued and dried for 15-20 minutes using the natural method. If the composition is completely absorbed, the procedure must be repeated: the result should be a shiny surface that does not stick to your fingers. Then the parts are heated at a temperature of 80–90 C for about 3 minutes. An industrial or regular hair dryer is used for this. The parts are connected and held for 1–2 minutes. Such a seam gains strength after 6 hours, but in rain or snow it is better to wear the product after 24 hours.

Reviews about storage features and recommendations for operational safety

Desmokol glue must be stored at temperatures ranging from +10 to +25 °C in sealed packaging. Consumers especially emphasize that the composition should be kept away from heating appliances. The mixture will retain its qualities for 12 months after production.

If you want to protect yourself, you must follow the manufacturer’s recommendations during operation. From the instructions you can find out that the mixture has high flammable properties, because it is created on the basis of solvents. Work with the composition must be carried out away from open flame sources. In this case, the room should be well ventilated.

Nairite adhesive SAR-30E

It is based on chloroprene rubber resin, as well as non-volatile substances and thermal vulcanizers.

Adhesive SAR-30 E

Thanks to these components, the nairite composition is safer and has excellent user properties:

  • SAR-30E is resistant to cold and heat;
  • the glued seam retains elasticity even at very low temperatures - down to -60C;
  • the composition retains its properties for a long time when opened and does not need to be diluted;
  • resistant not only to moisture, but also to petroleum products and weak acids;
  • SAR-30E glue is used when processing the seams of finished shoes in order to make the product waterproof.

Instructions for using the composition suggest 2 gluing methods. Parts must be cleaned and degreased before the procedure.

  • Cold - produced at a temperature not lower than +17 C. It is recommended to use it when gluing foam rubber, fabric uppers to soles and other works where the use of the hot method is impossible. The surface of the parts is lubricated with 1 layer of SAR-30E, wait 3-5 minutes for the composition to feed, and then connect the parts and press tightly. You can use the product within a day.
  • The hot method is preferable as it allows the resin to polymerize to a greater extent. One layer of the composition is applied to the elements of the product, and after 10 minutes - the second. After which the surface is dried at room temperature for 30–40 minutes. Then the surfaces are heated at 80–90 C for about 5–10 minutes, and then pressed tightly against each other; it is recommended to tap the joint. After 6 hours the product can be used.
