Ways to wash brilliant green from different surfaces - we remove from linoleum, laminate, carpet, walls, furniture and the body

There is a green antiseptic in every first aid kit. It has a lot of advantages, for which it has acquired an impeccable reputation during its existence. But it also has a drawback that forces users to treat the drug with caution.

The solution takes a long time to wash off from human skin, and it is very difficult or even impossible to remove it from products. If you know how to wash brilliant green and how to do it as effectively as possible for a specific material, the problem will quickly resolve itself.

How to wash clothes

No one wears a sealed suit or special long rubber gloves every time they need to open a bottle of solution. Moreover, the use of brilliant green in connection with the treatment of wounds is due to urgency. At such moments, you don’t think about how not to get dirty. Only later, having noticed green droplets or even a large stain on the clothes, does horror arise from the realization that the thing is ruined forever. In reality, there are a number of methods to combat such a scourge.

Hydrogen peroxide

If the stain is on a white fabric, to clean it, you need to take a cotton pad or swab, soak it in peroxide and thoroughly wipe the stained area. You may need to change the disk to a clean one more than once during the process and it will take a long time to wash. It all depends on the size of the pollution.

Important: in the case of an old and stubborn stain, the product is not always able to help. It is rare to completely clean the stains the first time.

After 10 minutes, clothes should be washed by hand in warm water with your usual cleaning agent.

When working with colored fabric, concentrated peroxide should not be used. The substance can affect the dye, and an equally unpleasant stain will remain. A 50% solution will do, but it’s best to test the reaction on an inconspicuous area first.

Toilet cleaner

It is enough to pour this substance on a contaminated piece of fabric, and the brilliant green will evaporate in the blink of an eye. Without delay, you need to wash your clothes in clean water, without washing powder or even soap, in order to completely get rid of a very toxic substance. If you leave the concentrate on textiles, the green stain may turn white, regardless of the original color of the material.

Important: when using toxic substances that can cause skin irritation upon direct contact, you need to protect yourself by wearing thick rubber gloves. It’s not very convenient to scrub in them, but your hands won’t get hurt in the process.

Ammonia 10%

The drug is easy to purchase at any pharmacy, despite the fact that it is very toxic and dangerous. Pour the solution onto the stain, leave for 5 minutes and wash as usual with detergent.

Stain remover

Helps fight fresh stains left by brilliant green solution. Pour a whole capful of the substance onto the desired area. Rub, wait 30 minutes. Then add the same amount when washing and turn on the mode at a temperature of 60 ° C.

There is a possibility that the manipulations will have to be repeated several times. The consumption of substance is high. Therefore, if on the third attempt nothing worked or a green outline remains, you can use another method.

Laundry soap

Relevant only for freshly spilled antiseptic. First, the fabric needs to be rinsed under running cold water to remove anything that has not yet been deeply absorbed. Then thoroughly soap the area, rub and rinse. If necessary, repeat no more than 3 times.

Alcohol

Both pure concentrated medical grade and alcohol-containing colorless liquids or solutions are suitable. For example, the same vodka.

Tip: to enhance the effect, it is recommended to add a few drops of lemon juice to the main active substance.

Soak a cotton swab or pad in the resulting liquid and wipe the stain. Having achieved the desired result, wash the item in warm water, without adding cleaning agents. If necessary, you can repeat the procedure while the item is damp.

Vinegar

A substance of 9% concentration should be applied to the contaminated area, but first place a napkin under it to absorb the brilliant green. After the procedure, rinse the item and then wash it as usual.

Potassium permangantsovka

As effective as vinegar, but mainly used on cotton items. A weak solution will destroy dirt very quickly. But first, the item is washed in hot water with laundry soap, and then, while still warm, it is soaked for 3 hours in a weak solution of manganese. Then you need to rinse thoroughly. If the stain has not completely disappeared, repeat the procedure until the clothes are completely dry.

Vegetable oil and starch

When thinking about how to clean brilliant green, few people remember such a simple product as sunflower oil. But it is found in every home and is less toxic than alcohol or acetone. In combination with starch, it removes even old and complex stains.

But the substance is quite greasy and does not wash off easily. Therefore, first you need to try to make a paste from water and starch, adding a few drops of vegetable oil. Both sunflower and olive oils are suitable. Rub the resulting mixture onto the stain, wait until it dries, and repeat two more times. Then wash the item in the machine using stain remover.

If this does not help or the contamination appeared more than a month ago, you will have to pour oil into the stain and let it sit for 3-5 hours. You need to start rinsing off with a product that eliminates grease. Dish gel or similar liquid will do. After 12 hours, wash the product as usual in warm, but not hot water.

Acetone

It is best not to use on synthetic or delicate fabrics as there is a possibility of causing even more damage. The method is relevant for denim products or coarse materials with a similar structure and density.

Moisten the stained area with acetone and scrub thoroughly with a brush. Wash the part where the stain was with laundry soap, and then perform the same procedure with the entire item, but in the usual way. For example, in a washing machine.

When working with delicate fabrics, it is better to use a stain remover or starch paste. These types of materials include satin, silk and wool. They do not tolerate regular washing, therefore the approach to aggressive cleaning should be individual and as gentle as possible on the structure of the textile.

Dried green stains on the floor

I talked about fresh stains, but it happens that they manage to be thoroughly absorbed into the surface. What to do in this case?

I have three solutions:

  • Vinegar and soda. To do this, I covered the green blot with soda and splashed a little vinegar on top. After this, the soda interacted with the acid, and the brilliant green was pushed to the surface. All I had to do was remove the resulting mixture from the floor with a sponge. If after this the stain does not completely disappear, then all steps must be repeated.
  • Acetone. I took a regular cotton pad for makeup removal and soaked it in this solution. Then, slowly, using circular movements, I scrubbed the stain from the floor. As the cotton pad became dirty, I replaced it. The method has a drawback - it can ruin the color of the coating. This will create a “burnout” effect.
  • Petrol. First of all, you should protect your hands with rubber gloves. Then take either a cotton swab or a piece of cloth. I rubbed the stain a little and then just put a rag soaked in gasoline on it. After leaving the stain in this state for an hour, I went to drink coffee. When I returned, I washed the area with the blot with soapy water.

Removal from leather, body and hair

When opening a container or carelessly handling brilliant green, the hands and, oddly enough, the face are the first to suffer. It is known that it will gradually wash itself off with water during regular hygiene procedures. But the time frame for this action depends on many factors and can stretch greatly, even for several weeks.

Bleaching

The most effective, but also aggressive method of quickly getting rid of green solution on the body. If you don't have regular bleach, bleach will do. The latter acts a little softer, but also helps. It is enough to apply the substance to a cotton pad and wipe the skin.

Important: the concentrate must be mixed with water in a ratio of 1:10.

After the procedure, the treated area may become unpleasantly smooth. In this case, you need to moisten the area with ordinary vinegar. If redness occurs, baby cream or body milk with an anti-inflammatory and regenerating effect will help.

Alcohol

Any alcohol-containing liquid, wet wipes with this composition, or medical concentrate will help remove brilliant green from the skin. After treatment, the surface must be rinsed with warm water, wiped dry and anointed with nourishing cream. Otherwise, inflammation or itching may occur.

It is important to use alcohol-containing wipes for cleaning the face and delicate areas of the body. You can buy them in stores selling household appliances and electronics. As a rule, they are used to wipe monitors, transparent and mirror surfaces.

Lemon

It enhances the effect of alcohol, but also copes with a simple task on its own. You need to wipe the contaminated area with the pulp, wait 5 minutes, and then repeat the procedure. Rinse with water. If necessary, perform the same manipulations again.

Baking soda

Natural abrasive is gentle and difficult to remove brilliant green, but soda does not harm the skin. Mix the bulk component with plain water to obtain a thick but tenacious paste. Apply to the contaminated area in a circular motion. Rinse and repeat the procedure.

Advice: it is better not to rub too hard, otherwise the upper layer of the dermis will be damaged and redness will remain.

Skin scrub

Rinse the area with warm water, apply cosmetic product, rub gently and rinse. The last step must be performed under running water, otherwise the opposite effect will occur. Can be repeated up to 5 times.

Vitamin C powder

Sold in any pharmacy and without a prescription. You need to prepare a paste by adding a little water. Apply to the area, wait 20 minutes and rinse. Harmless to the skin and does not leave irritation.

Makeup remover milk

Milk based on coconut oil is especially effective. But any high-quality makeup remover can, if not completely remove it, then reduce the intensity of the stain. The principle of use is the same as in the case of mascara on eyelashes.

Soap with cream

Apply a greasy cream or vegetable oil to the stain, wait 3-5 minutes and wash off with a soap solution that was prepared in advance. Repeat the procedure until the brilliant green disappears completely.

Advice: if a child has had chickenpox, it is better to use this method. In addition to this, powdered vitamin C and laundry soap will also help. Anything else will damage the baby's delicate skin.

Toothpaste

Apply the substance to the contaminated area, rub with a brush, rinse, and repeat if necessary. Chemical stain removers are much more effective, but they will also damage the skin. In the case of a human, it will be an unpleasant wound that does not heal for a long time.

From hair

If the brilliant green solution gets on your hair, you should not immediately run to the hairdresser and get an original haircut. Alcohol, peroxide, perfume/cologne or sunflower oil will help most effectively.

The last option is the most gentle for the hair structure, but you need to be prepared for the fact that you will have to smear the strand several times and wash your hair after each. Hydrogen peroxide only helps with fresh contamination, but it is better not to use it on colored hair.

Important: any of the products mentioned must be applied locally, and not just poured on the head.

What you need to know about the coating so as not to damage it

Linoleum is the general name for a group of floor finishes. They differ significantly from each other in performance characteristics, type of surface, number of layers, etc. Therefore, it is important to know what surface you will be working with so as not to completely ruin it.

Types of linoleum

  • Marmoleum. The material is completely natural in composition. A mixture of wood and cork flour, linseed oil and coniferous tree resin is applied to jute, flax or hemp fabric. The dense surface is resistant to chemicals, so you can use almost any cleaning agent.
  • PVC sheets. They occur most often. Single or multi-layer synthetic coating of varying densities. Has low resistance to solvents, fats and alkalis. Taking this into account, the preparation for washing is selected.
  • Alkyd (aka glypthal). A mixture of alkyd resins is applied to a fabric base. The fairly dense coating is resistant to most chemicals.
  • Nitrocellulose. Material based on nitrocellulose mixed with colloxylin, gypsum and red lead. Sensitive to aggressive chemicals, in particular to all solvents. They are used with great care.

If the owner knows exactly what type of finish is on the floor, choosing a product to wash off the brilliant green from the floor will not be difficult. In other cases, you will have to act with caution. Before applying the drug, you will need to test its effect on an inconspicuous fragment in the corner, behind a curtain or under the baseboard. After a test application of the mixture, wait 15-20 minutes; if everything is in order, proceed to remove the stain.

How to remove brilliant green from linoleum and other floor coverings

You can’t throw away a piece of parquet like a spoiled blouse. Making major repairs to re-floor or purchase a carpet to cover the stain is also not an option. If the contamination is fresh, it can be quite successfully removed from almost any surface.

First of all, you need to act quickly to save the material. Blot the puddle with a napkin and do not let it spread, thereby increasing the affected area.

Laminate, linoleum or parquet are wiped with alcohol. In the absence of one, any strong alcohol-containing drink will do. As a last resort, use kerosene or glass washing liquid. But they are very aggressive, so prolonged exposure should not be allowed. Wash off any remaining residue with soapy water. If the coating is embossed, you will have to use a brush.

When dealing with stains on tiles, it should be taken into account that the tiles have a matte, rough and even embossed structure. It will not be difficult to quickly wipe off a glossy surface, but in the case of an uneven surface you will have to sweat. Due to the high porosity of the material, vodka may not cope with a large stain, but will only make it duller. It is best to use peroxide.

After applying the substance, wipe the stain with a cotton swab and then give it some time. Be sure to check the action periodically.

To clean the floor from green paint...

  • First, remove all moisture from the linoleum with a dry cloth. Immediately wash the surface with warm water and dish soap. The pollution must go away.
  • Sprinkle a little cleaning powder onto the damp floor, rub gently and leave for 30 minutes. Rinse several times with clean water to avoid white streaks.
  • If you find old stains, soak a rag with gasoline or kerosene and place it on the contaminated area of linoleum. After 10 minutes, remove and wash the surface with soapy water.
  • Use acetone. Soak a soft cloth in the product and rub the stain. Wash off any remaining solvent from the linoleum with soapy water.
  • Pour in some oxygen bleach and sprinkle with water. After half an hour, clean with a soft brush and wash.
  • If you still cannot completely remove the stain from the linoleum, be patient: it will go away on its own over time.

How to clean carpets

As in other cases with other materials, the main condition is not to hesitate. In such a situation, a few minutes may result in the need to change the rug.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Blot the puddle with dry wipes or an unnecessary rag.
  2. Treat with a foam solution based on laundry soap, washing powder or stain remover. The ratio of the active substance is 4 tbsp. for half a liter of water.
  3. For short pile you need to use a brush, and for long pile - a rag.
  4. If all else fails, you should resort to more effective substances. A solution of 10% ammonia will work fine, but it has a strong odor. For safety reasons, you should open the windows, protect your hands with rubber gloves and put a gauze bandage on your face.
  5. The solution should not be poured directly onto the carpet. You need to moisten a rag or napkin with it, and then make an effort to clean the stain.

Intense friction can damage the pile, so reasonable measures should be taken in everything.

Removing marks on the carpet

How to remove green stains from a carpet? Much depends on the size of the “blot” and how long it spent on the carpet. You need to act immediately; on the second day, the brilliant green solution will be absorbed into the pile and it will be much more difficult to remove the dye without leaving a trace.

If the stain is fresh...

  1. Gently blot the area filled with greenery with napkins or unnecessary rags. Make sure that the maximum amount of emerald substance is absorbed into the rags.
  2. Add the powder to the water and create a foam.
  3. Apply with a brush to the carpet. Rub the stain. For difficult cases, it is recommended to leave the foam for an hour.
  4. Remove the foam with a sponge soaked in water.
  5. Dry the carpet. If the size of the coating allows, dry in the fresh air. Otherwise, blow drying will do.

To treat colored carpets, use a powder with added stain remover; for light-colored carpets, use a powder with bleaching properties.

...and if it's old

  1. Soak a cotton pad with 10% ammonia.
  2. Test the product on an inconspicuous area.
  3. If the test shows that the carpet does not lose color, then treat the stain.
  4. Repeat the procedure until the emerald “blot” disappears.

Alcohol can be replaced with peroxide. But only if the carpet is light. On dark material, peroxide can leave whitish streaks and discolored areas.

Removal from the sofa

If the piece of furniture is leather, any method that is relevant for the body will do: alcohol-containing wipes and liquids, soda and vinegar, acetone.

Apply the product to the stain, rub with a clean cloth and apply cream. Otherwise, the skin will crack.

A sofa covered with leatherette requires a different approach using soda, ammonia, and peroxide.

Important: hydrogen peroxide discolors any material, so you need to act quickly and carefully.

Using ammonia, after treatment, wash the area with soap and water.

Salicylic alcohol will help remove long-spilled greenery. It should be applied to the stain and washed off with a clean cloth after a couple of minutes. Laundry soap is also used, but it does not help in all cases.

Fabric upholstery should be cleaned using the same methods as other textiles. As a last resort, you can use acetone, which is suitable for jeans and rough materials.

Step-by-step instructions for breeding brilliant green

1. Regardless of the type of coating, immediately remove excess brilliant green. Rags, napkins, cotton pads and even paper (for example, old newspapers) will come in handy. Remove the green stuff using a blotting motion. Do not rub the mark under any circumstances; work from the edges to the center.

2. Now prepare a strong, warm soap solution (washing powder, Fairy, or laundry soap are suitable) and, generously wetting a rag, scrub off the stains until they turn pale.

3. Use one of the remedies described below, depending on the flooring material.

4. Wash the floor clean, adding a couple of drops of your usual product or, in extreme cases, dishwashing gel to warm water.

5. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
