How to poison bedbugs in an apartment yourself - 11 ways

  • Destruction of bedbugs

Over more than 13 years of work, we have managed to test 71 professional bedbug repellents in real home conditions, in a variety of apartments. Some of these products are no longer produced, some have appeared on the market literally in the last few years, and among them we have already found drugs that are the most effective in certain cases.

One shelf in the Disincity warehouse in Moscow

For example, when you need to poison bedbugs that have previously encountered some kind of insecticide, you need to use only drugs. When you need to destroy bedbugs in the same apartment as cockroaches, the means may be different. When traveling to a room where bedbugs have not yet been poisoned with anything, you can use other drugs.

At one time, there was a very inquisitive exterminator working in DezinCity, who was very fond of testing insecticides and their mixtures. He was simply a fan of such experiments, both in the laboratory and in real conditions, in clients’ apartments. Thanks to him, we have studied the properties of various drugs very well and know what products need to be taken for treatment in a particular apartment.

Plus, relatively recently, our colleagues from klop911 began testing drugs on bedbugs that are used to independently exterminate bedbugs by the population at home. These are not professional products, but among them there are very effective compounds that are not inferior in strength to the products used by specialists. The rating of such tested products was published on a separate page...

Exterminators do not use such preparations in their work only because they can only be purchased in retail packaging, which is unprofitable for professional use (if there is a constant need, it is more economical to buy the preparations in canisters). But it is precisely these household products that are most convenient and profitable to purchase specifically in order to remove bedbugs once in a separate apartment.

And one more very interesting point: in almost all the apartments in which we poison bedbugs, the residents themselves, before calling the service, tried to remove these parasites using various means. Over the course of 13 years, we have collected certain statistics and we know after which treatments there are practically no bedbugs left in the apartment, and to which bedbugs do not react at all.

Having all this data, we can accurately identify fairly effective drugs that really kill bedbugs. And alas, the same statistics show that even with the most effective and truly working means, you most likely will not get rid of bedbugs.

But first things first. First, here are a few of the products that exterminators most often encounter with the consequences of using them and which people most often search for on the Internet. And then - about why these remedies most likely will not help you.

How to find pests in an apartment

Before you fight bedbugs at home, you need to identify all the places where they are found. Otherwise, you risk not destroying the entire colony. You need to look for these parasites in upholstered furniture, under mattresses, sometimes in closets, behind baseboards and near sockets. It is not difficult to determine where bedbugs accumulate: near them you can usually find many small black dots - traces of the vital activity of parasites.

A bedbug nest is a moving mass that simultaneously contains eggs, larvae, and adult parasites. There may be several such nests around the apartment. The more there are, the more difficult it will be to carry out sanitary treatment in such a house, which will give the desired effect. If there are a large number of parasites in the apartment, it is not recommended to try to fight them yourself.

If you found only one or two small nests in the sofa, you can cope with this task without the help of the SES. To do this, you will only need to carry out several treatments of the apartment with special means to completely get rid of pests.

Favorite places for bedbugs

Bed bugs are unpretentious to their habitats and can live in any convenient place in the apartment. Naturally, they choose places that are located as close to the person as possible. The bug comes out to hunt at night, when a person is fast asleep. At the same time, bedbug bites are practically painless, since the bedbug secretes a special substance.

Nests of these parasites can be found on the headboards of beds, in the crevices of sofas, under the mattress, in sofas, etc. In addition, they can be found in children's toys, ottomans, and pillows. If there are a lot of parasites, and no one is fighting them, colonies of bedbugs can be found behind paintings, behind peeling wallpaper, in electrical appliances, in sockets and switches, in clothes, in computer units, etc. In other words, if you don’t fight them, they can be found almost everywhere.

How to prepare a room for treatment

In order to carry out sanitization effectively, it is important to know how to properly prepare the room for it. To do this you need:

  • Remove absolutely all food and dishes from the apartment. If you are unable to do this, you must store it in a remote location and be sure to completely cover it with an impervious material.
  • Move all furniture away from the walls at a distance of at least 10-15 centimeters. This is necessary in order to provide yourself with full access to all corners, baseboards, and crevices in which pests can hide.
  • Remove all contents from linen drawers and soft corners.
  • Wash bedding, as well as clothes that may be contaminated, in hot water. Please note: it cannot be treated with insecticides together with furniture.
  • Remove other family members and pets from the premises. This rule should be followed even if you use folk remedies for bullying. (more details about anti-bedbug products)

Important: before you start working with any chemicals, you need to take care of personal protective equipment. At home, it is mandatory to use a respirator, gloves, and goggles. All this is necessary in order to protect the skin and mucous membranes from harmful effects, on which chemical burns from insecticides may remain.

Only by following all the above rules can you be well prepared for further processing of the room. It can be done using various means.

Bite process and symptoms

Most often, little vampires settle next to the bed or in bedding; during the day they try to hide behind wallpaper, in the cracks of furniture, under baseboards, in books, in sockets, and in household appliances. Unpleasant neighbors poison sleep, as a result of which performance decreases, restlessness and anxiety appear. At night they become very active - the insects are attracted by the warmth and smell of their prey.

How do bed bugs bite? Having reached a person, they pierce the skin with the help of their proboscis, approach small capillaries, injecting a secretion with an anesthetic substance, so the bite is not felt. Pain may occur in the case of a bite from a young individual whose saliva does not contain an anesthetic substance. To satiate, the parasites make three bites, which are expressed by slight redness with a bright scarlet dot in the center.

You can distinguish bed bug bites as follows:

  • The appearance of swollen, round spots in the morning, which were not there in the evening;
  • Many bites located along the same trajectory;
  • Sores on almost all exposed parts of the body.

Each person has a very different rate of swelling and itching, and the symptoms of bites are individual and depend on the body.

Method 1 - special aerosols

How can you poison pests quickly and effectively? Special aerosols cope well with this task; these products are best used if you know where exactly the pest nest is located in the house. They need to be sprayed directly on adult insects, as well as on larvae. When in direct contact with pests, aerosols cause paralysis of the nervous system in insects, which is why they die very quickly. The most effective means of this type are considered to be Raptor, Combat, Raid, Dichlorvos.

It should be noted that it is necessary to treat the apartment with dichlorvos or any other similar product not once, but 2-3 times with an interval of several days. What is it for? During this time, new eggs will have time to hatch, which could not be destroyed during the previous disinfestation.

Important: this type of chemical should be used in areas where the number of pests is small and their nest is easy to find. Only in this case will they help you get rid of house bugs in just a few treatments.

Habitat Features

The main food for representatives of both sexes of insects is blood. Bedbug larvae feed on it. Parasites hunt mainly in the dark. During the day they hide from human eyes. House bugs can be found in dark, warm places. These include:

Method 2 – powders and crayons

What is the best way to destroy such pests if you do not know where exactly their nest is located in your house? It is best to use powders or contact crayons for this purpose: Mashenka, Neoprin, Chlorophos. These remedies usually give a fairly long-lasting effect and allow you to get rid of not only adult insects, but also insect larvae. They are also often used to protect your home from such pests.

The principle of using these funds is quite simple. They are applied to those places where bedbugs can live: behind baseboards, near cracks, near entrance doors. Insects come into contact with these agents and quickly die from paralysis of the nervous system.

Important: it is necessary to remember that many products from this category are dangerous not only for pests, but also for humans. Therefore, it is not recommended to use them if you cannot leave your home for the entire period of disinfestation.

Where could they be

To destroy bedbugs, you need to know where their nests may be. You can get rid of these insects only if you simultaneously treat all their habitats - nests. If at least one living individual remains (a female at any stage of development), everything will have to be repeated. And they are so tenacious that they will definitely remain. Until now, they have not found a remedy that would kill all the bedbugs at once.

For the fight against bedbugs to be effective, you need to know where they can hide.

Bed bugs usually make nests near the feeding area - 2-3 meters from the bed. In this area, they can live in any crack, recess, or hole that is larger than 0.5 mm in size. Here's where to look:

  • Under and in mattresses.
  • In the bed frame.
  • In bedside tables, chairs, armchairs, cabinets.
  • On the back of carpets and rugs.
  • Behind the baseboard.
  • In sockets, switches, electrical appliances, in electrical wiring channels.
  • Behind the peeling wallpaper.
  • In the cracks between the floor/ceiling and the wall.
  • In the cavities of frames and frames of paintings and photographs.
  • Under floor coverings and in floor crevices.
  • In the recesses of the wall.
  • In clothes.

This is what bedbug bites look like.
Actually, all places where it is dry and warm at a distance of a couple of meters from the bed can be breeding grounds for bedbugs. Here's an example: if the plaster is behind, then they will be behind it. Or under the laminate. Or under linoleum. In any cavity.

Inspection Process: Example

When fighting bedbugs, you need to thoroughly inspect all possible places of their nests. For example, in furniture, inspect the bottom and legs. Remove the back wall if possible. Be sure to pull out drawers and shelves. Inspect all joints of furniture parts, under fastening and mounting plates, in recesses for fasteners. Even remove the handles and check for bedbugs.

If you want to find all bedbug nests, remove all parts that you can

This is how meticulously and scrupulously everything needs to be checked. Otherwise, even the best remedy will not help. When processing, go through even those places where theoretically there should not be bedbugs. They are found in strange and remote places. And if one survives, then after a while there will be a hundred again, and then a thousand.

Method 3 - liquid products

When the level of infestation of an apartment by such pests is high, specialized liquid products are used, as well as powders to prepare a solution. They are effective against both adults and larvae. The most popular products presented in this category are Karbofos, Forsyth, Get, Clean House.

How to use such tools? If you decide to poison parasites with similar chemicals, for example, karbofos, you will need to proceed as follows: apply the karbofos solution with a paint brush to places where insects accumulate or move and leave there for several days. Since the presented drug has a very intense specific odor, it is not recommended to be in the room where it was treated. After using this product, you must ventilate your home very well, and only then can you return there.

Other do-it-yourself bed bug remedies

There is also a fairly old remedy called Cucaracha on sale. The active ingredients in it are cypermethrin and malathion, also known as karbofos. In fact, it is similar to the same Agran, especially since karbofos has also long been known to have stable populations of bed bugs.

By the way, Fufanon is produced using only karbofos - consider it the same karbofos, only in a different package. If bedbugs do not have resistance to it, it works well (as does Karbofos, in fact). If they are stable, then processing them does not give any result.

Almost the same can be said about most other chemicals. Whatever you take: Forsythe, Tetrix, Zonder, Cyclops, Raid, Raptor - they all contain highly effective insecticides, and any of them can kill bedbugs. All of them have both positive and negative reviews.

There are relatively few drugs that have almost no effect on bedbugs in real apartment conditions. For example, this is a very famous chalk Mashenka, these are repellers that are plugged into an outlet. But after self-treatment with means that quite effectively kill bedbugs, people still call and order professional treatment.

Method 4 - temperature treatment

How to remove pests if you do not have the opportunity to treat your home with specialized chemicals? This can be done by using too high or low temperatures. Steaming things gives a good effect. This effect kills most of the adult pests, as well as many larvae.

If you do not have the opportunity to go over all surfaces with a steam generator, you can do it simpler: you just need to pour boiling water over the areas where bedbugs are likely to accumulate and move. If the apartment is not heavily infested, this technique allows you to quickly and easily get rid of them.

In winter, you can remove these parasites in another way: you should put infected sofas and carpets outside for a while. If possible, it is also recommended to leave the apartment and open all the windows so that the temperature in the room drops significantly. The housing must be left to stand for several days so that all pests leave it. Learn more about how to get rid of bedbugs in a sofa.

Important: to achieve lasting results from this treatment, repeat it several times with an interval of 7-10 days. During this time, the remaining bedbug eggs will have time to hatch, but the young individuals will not yet give birth to offspring. Thanks to this, you can completely destroy the parasite colony.

Cold fog

This method will require a steam generator and specialized preparations that are poured into the device and form fog. It fills all the cracks in the room, and the insects die. You need to work in a protective suit, having first removed all food and personal belongings. Windows and doors must be tightly closed.

After treatment, you cannot stay in the room for another 10 hours. All furniture will need to be wiped with a damp cloth, and curtains, bedspreads and clothes will need to be washed. If you have never carried out such treatment yourself, then do not take risks and invite specialists; they know how to eradicate parasites. Price from 1600 rubles.

Method 5 – denatured alcohol

How to poison house bugs if you know exactly where their nest is? Use denatured alcohol for this purpose. It is extremely simple to use: you need to find a place where parasites accumulate and pour this alcohol over it - the pests will instantly die. You should not use this product only for surface treatment: in this case, it will have absolutely no effect.

Tip: instead of denatured alcohol, you can use aviation liquid - it has the same principle of action on insects. Just be very careful when using it, as it belongs to the group of flammable substances.

Professional methods and means of baiting bedbugs

Relevant services and units of sanitary and epidemiological stations use cold and hot fog to combat blood-sucking parasites. Disinfestation frees the premises from insects quickly and for a long time. To form a fog cloud, steam generators, devices with a pump, are used that create a powerful air flow.

The method is that at the outlet of the device nozzle, insecticide is injected into the stream in drops. The fraction turns out to be finely dispersed. Microscopic drops penetrate into the hidden places of the apartment, where the air enters.

Cold fog generators for bed bug control create an air stream whose temperature is equal to the ambient temperature. When exterminating using the hot method, the insecticide is injected into an air stream heated to 70°C, which makes it possible to obtain even smaller particles for spraying, which can penetrate into air ducts and ventilation openings.

Exterminators use cold and hot fog generators in residential and industrial buildings. Experts prefer to kill parasites using the cold steam method with insecticides “Karbofos”, “Chlorofos”, “Pyrethrum”, “Mikrofos”. To destroy parasites, you can use chemicals made on the basis of pyrethroids, neonicotinoids, and organophosphorus compounds.

Insecticides for use by pest control companies and SES are not commercially available. The drugs have licenses, certificates, test results. The most commonly used:

  • means "Diptron". The active ingredient is etofenprox. The formula is specially developed for professional exterminators, for use in facilities where it is not possible to poison insects once due to resistance to the effects of other toxic agents. To prepare a solution for thermal aerosol generators, dissolve 150 ml in 600 ml of water;
  • · “Masterlac profesional” is a ready-to-use preparation for baiting parasites in residential, industrial premises, and public utility facilities. Advantages: low consumption, shock effect. Parasites can be destroyed by applying the composition to the floor, baseboards, and surfaces. Not suitable for fog generators;
  • product “K-Otrin VG 25%” with the active ingredient delmtameril. The drug is low-toxic, economical in consumption, diluted with water. Available in 2.5 gram bags, in 1 liter containers. One sachet is enough to destroy a colony in an apartment with an area of 70 sq.m. Features: UV resistance, efficiency, complete destruction of insects.

The effectiveness of “fog” techniques is higher than baiting parasites with aerosol preparations. The result is achieved in less time, with less effort. Fog treatment allows you to cover large areas of apartments, houses, hotels, hostels, dormitories, construction trailers in a short time. Up to one hundred square meters are processed in an hour, which allows you to effectively remove insects.

Method 6 – vinegar

This product does not kill bed bugs, but only repels them. It should be used if there are few pests in the house, and for some reason you do not want to use stronger chemicals. How do you fight bedbugs with vinegar? This product sprays all the cracks in the house where parasites can be found.

Mixtures of vinegar with other chemicals also have a good effect. So, for example, a mixture of wormwood decoction and vinegar in equal parts repels pests very well. It is advisable to use this recipe if one of your neighbors poisons bedbugs, and you do not want them to move in with you.

A mixture of naphthalene, alcohol and vinegar, taken in equal parts, also gives a good effect in pest control. It can poison parasites if it comes in contact with them directly. You can use it if you find a small nest of bedbugs and can completely fill it with this preparation.

What smells do bedbugs dislike?

Bedbugs have a highly developed sense of smell. This helps them quickly find a source of nutrition - human blood. Therefore, insects always react to odors and do not like highly concentrated aromas. This was discovered a long time ago and was used to repel blood-sucking insects. Smells that bed bugs are afraid of include herbal aromas:

  • wormwood;
  • tansy;
  • calamus;
  • chamomile;
  • wild rosemary

The scent of perfume and cologne can also ward off an uninvited guest. But only if the smell is very persistent. Among the chemical agents to repel bedbugs, you can use ammonia, vinegar, turpentine, wiping the legs of the bed and the floor around it with their solutions.

Comment! Repelling bedbugs with an unpleasant odor is only a temporary measure. A very hungry insect will still attack a person to satisfy its hunger.

Method 7 - ammonia

To get rid of bed bugs once and for all, you can use a special liquid based on ammonia at home. To prepare it you will need:

  • 40 grams of benzene;
  • 10 grams of ammonia;
  • 150 grams of denatured alcohol.

All of the above components will need to be mixed until smooth, poured into small saucers and placed around the apartment. In just a few days, this poison will destroy most of the insects.

Important: remember that this liquid is extremely toxic. It can harm not only insects, but also pets. Make sure that it is completely inaccessible to them.

If you do not need to kill bedbugs, but simply scare them away, you can act much easier with ammonia. All you need to do is pour it pure into small plates and place it near the places through which parasites enter your home. The pungent smell of this product will definitely repel bedbugs.

Types of bedbugs

Scientists have data on the presence of more than 5 thousand species of bedbugs. The most common is the bed bug, which prefers to settle in a person’s home and feeds on human blood. Despite this, other types of bedbugs deserve attention. For example:

  • Water bug . This insect prefers to settle in bodies of water and feed on creatures living in the water. It grows up to 1.5 cm in length. The water bug is not dangerous to humans. But its bites can cause allergic reactions and pain.
  • Wood bug . It prefers to live on various kinds of bushes and, for humans, does not pose any danger, even if it gets into an apartment or house.
  • Green bug . A fairly common pest that lives on plants such as raspberries and strawberries. It does not pose any danger to humans, but it is dangerous for strawberries and wild strawberries, as it feeds on the juices of these berries.
  • Red bug . They usually appear in early spring, when the sun begins to warm up, and in the fall, when the last warmth is observed outside before the onset of cold weather. They can be seen by their bright colors and numerous groups basking in the sun. These creatures feed on plant sap and have a detrimental effect on the condition of many trees.

Method 8 - mechanical processing

You can partially get rid of pests in your apartment and furniture mechanically. To do this, you need to find places where parasites accumulate and collect them manually or using a vacuum cleaner. This method is time-consuming and can be used in homes where chemical surface treatment is undesirable.

Important: if there are quite a lot of bedbugs in your home, using this method of fighting them may not give you good results. In order to significantly increase its effectiveness, use it as a preparatory step before further chemical treatment of the room.

Mechanical destruction of parasites

If a few bedbugs appear in the apartment walls, then it is quite possible to get rid of them yourself, rather than calling specialists from the SES. This can be done mechanically (physically) - to remove the parasites out.

How else can you fight bed bugs on your own? When physically affecting one or more parasites, the residents make a lot of noise - they wake up these insects. Then, people knock on furniture, move various objects, etc.

Then, these small pests run out on their own from their previous habitats. Next, the tenant tramples these small pests underfoot or sucks them up with a vacuum cleaner so that they disappear without a trace.

Method 9 – dust soap

How is it safe to poison bedbugs in an apartment yourself? You can use a product based on dust soap for this purpose. To prepare this, take:

  • half a glass of water;
  • 10 ml turpentine;
  • 20 ml kerosene;
  • bar of dust soap.

You need to dilute the soap in water, after which turpentine and kerosene should be added to the mixture. The resulting mixture should also be applied to all places where bedbugs may be hiding. After some time, be sure to ventilate the room well and wash off any remaining poison from the surface. This must be done because it is toxic not only to insects, but also to pets and humans.

Important: work with this recipe very carefully; under no circumstances allow this mixture to come into contact with your skin. It can cause serious chemical burns.

Types and characteristics of chemical means of exterminating bloodsuckers

Chemical treatment of insects involves the use of insecticides - specially developed toxic drugs. Three main groups of insecticidal substances are used to bait bedbugs: FOS, pyrethroids, nicotinoids.

OPCs (organophosphorus agents) include substances with acute effects. They have a depressing effect, paralyze the nervous system, and as a result, the parasites die. Organophosphate products are the most popular among pest control companies. Among the advantages of isolating bedbugs using such means is the residual effect of the substance, which kills even clutches of eggs and larvae. Thanks to this, it is possible to destroy an entire population. When using FOS, you need to take into account a number of its features:

  • Strong smell. The product can only be used with special protective equipment for the nose, mouth and eyes.
  • Resistance of some individuals to active components. Therefore, it is necessary to make the concentration of the substance stronger.

Pyrethroids are synthetic substances. Initially used in agriculture. Later they began to treat hospitals, schools and kindergartens against bedbugs. Non-toxic, but has increased volatility and a short residual effect on surfaces. Therefore, to remove bedbugs, pyrethroids must be combined with FOS.

Neonicatinoids are the newest insecticidal agents developed by the chemical industry. They are used against bedbugs if they are resistant to FOS and pyrethroids. They have an instant damaging effect and a long residual effect. It is low toxic and does not require long ventilation, so it can be used in rooms with children and pets. The only negative is the high price relative to other substances.

Manufacturers offer dozens of good substances for home and professional use based on various active ingredients. When choosing an insecticide to combat bedbugs, it is important to establish the toxicity (it is preferable to choose products of hazard classes 3 and 4), select a release form convenient for use, the amount of substance used and find out the exposure time.

According to the form of release, they are distinguished:

  • aerosol insecticides;
  • concentrated liquid products;
  • powders.

Substances in aerosol form are ready for use after purchase. The finely dispersed mixture settles evenly on surfaces. Sprays are convenient for treating vertical areas. The death of most adult insects occurs from direct contact. To destroy larvae and egg clutches, it is recommended to re-hatch the parasites.

When choosing home remedies that are best used to exterminate bedbugs, you should pay attention to liquids. Treatment is carried out using a spray bottle. The nervous system of bedbugs reacts to the drug, paralysis and death occur, some active ingredients kill insect eggs.

Poisoning with insecticidal powders is carried out on horizontal surfaces, along the expected routes of movement of bloodsuckers, baseboards, inside the boxes of sofas, beds.

Based on the results of practical application, a rating has been compiled of the best means that are recommended to be used to independently and permanently destroy bedbugs in the house.

Method 10 – turpentine

How to effectively poison parasites? A very good remedy against bedbugs at home can be prepared using turpentine and salicylic acid. To get it you will need:

  • 6 grams of salicylic acid;
  • 80 ml turpentine;
  • 40 grams of phenol.

The presented components must be mixed until smooth, and then poured directly onto the bedbug nest. There is no point in wiping surfaces with it - the poison will still need to be washed off so as not to accidentally poison the people living in the house. When working with such chemicals, it is imperative to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators or at least medical masks.

Features of reproduction

At the moment of mating, the bug pierces the female’s genitals, injecting sperm into her. A fertilized female, even in the absence of a male individual, is capable of laying eggs every day throughout her life. Over the entire period of its existence, the female individual lays up to 500 eggs.

The egg hatches into a larva that goes hunting. After drinking a full portion of blood, the larva molts, forming into a nymph. The insect then goes hunting again, drinks blood and molts, reaching sexual maturity. The entire development cycle of the insect does not exceed 40 days. Unfavorable conditions increase the development period to 100 days.

Method 11 – herbs

You can use this method of fighting bedbugs only if the insects have just begun to crawl to you from your neighbors. In other situations, it will simply be ineffective. They use it like this: wormwood or tansy are laid out near the cracks and at the entrance, the smell of these plants repels pests, thanks to which they quickly leave the home.

Important: you can also place wormwood near your sleeping area at home to repel parasites. Its smell prevents insects from finding their prey. It is not recommended to use tansy in this way - it can harm the person himself.

Cifox

It is not known why someone decided that Cifox was a good remedy for bedbugs. Perhaps the manufacturer is “to blame” for this, who indicated that Tsifox is intended to destroy all synanthropic insects, including bedbugs. But in reality, the drug contains only cypermethrin, and it is quite unreliable against bedbugs. It kills them, but relatively slowly and often misfires. It can be considered a reliable remedy against fleas and cockroaches, against linen lice and even ticks in the area, but for baiting bedbugs it is better to take something else.

How SES destroys bedbugs

If all of the above methods did not help you get rid of these pests, you should seek help from specialized services. To understand whether such a solution will give the desired effect, you need to understand how the SES poisons bedbugs. In most cases this happens according to the following scheme:

  • Initially, the service conducts an inspection in the apartment to identify all places where insects accumulate. Often, representatives of such organizations insist on conducting an inspection of not only the home of the person who called them, but also the apartments of their neighbors. After all, it often happens that the SES is called by residents of relatively safe apartments, to which pests flee from their neighbors.
  • Based on the results of the housing inspection, insect baiting agents are selected, and the timing and cost of treating the apartment are also determined. All this is recorded in the agreement between the SES and the residents. The latter are tasked with preparing the room for treatment, since there should be no children or pets in it during disinfestation.

  • Next, the apartment is directly processed. It includes the treatment of contaminated clothing, furniture, and surfaces.
  • After the disinfestation is completed, residents are invited to inspect the property and also sign a work acceptance certificate.

Important: if bedbugs do not appear in the house within two months after such treatment, disinfestation is considered successful. If it was not possible to get rid of the pests the first time, the SES must be called again.

It’s worth saying a few words about what specialized services use to poison bedbugs. These organizations are allowed to use in their activities only those drugs that cannot cause significant harm to human health. Usually this is Tetrix, Bioprin, Sinusan, Extermin. All these means, when used correctly, allow you to get rid of pests after the first treatment of your home.

Video: how to disinfest a room when exterminating bedbugs:

Signs of a premises being infected

Bedbugs secrete an enzyme that has a specific odor. Thanks to this enzyme, the infested room “smells like bedbugs.” The purpose of this substance is controversial among scientists. Some of them believe that by secreting an enzyme, bedbugs scare away enemies. Others are of the opinion that this substance acts as a pheromone that attracts individuals of the opposite sex.

Another sign of the presence of bedbugs are bites on the skin that appear at night. Bites are rarely localized to one area of the skin. Bed bugs move around the body, leaving a trail of punctures. The distance between them can be several centimeters. In one night, a victim can receive up to 500 bites.

Bedbugs bite a person and disturb his sleep. Tossing and turning in his sleep, the victim crushes well-fed insects. As a result, brown marks remain on the sheets. And in places where insects accumulate, dark spots of excrement, eggs and chitinous cover, shed by the larvae, remain.

Baiting bedbugs is the only way to protect yourself and your loved ones from the possibility of contracting various diseases transmitted by parasites from one person to another.

Preliminary preparation for baiting insects

When deciding how to remove bedbugs, study the processing rules. If you follow these steps consistently, your chances of completely eliminating the parasites increase. This is due to the peculiarities of the life activity of insects.

Determine the presence of bedbugs

When a room is infected, obvious signs of parasites appear. Before deciding how to destroy bedbugs, you need to make sure that the room is infested with these insects. Signs of parasite proliferation:

  • the specific smell of the house, reminiscent of old cognac, but it is felt stronger when there are more bed bugs in the house;
  • hyperemia is detected in the morning, and the number of spots depends on the size of the colony;
  • light brown husks appear in the corners, they are carried away by a draft, and as the number of parasites increases, there are more and more such shells;
  • sometimes empty egg shells are found, for example, if a clutch was found that the female had made earlier, and the larvae had already emerged from the eggs.

Scheme for searching for the presence of bed bugs in an apartment

Prevent the spread of bedbugs

It is necessary to block the exit routes for parasites that multiply in the apartment, since in the process of exterminating bed bugs, infection of neighboring dwellings may occur. Insects will try to hide from danger through loopholes on the walls, floor, through the ventilation shaft, and openings in the walls. This means that getting rid of bedbugs needs to start with minor apartment repairs.

Prepare for processing

If you study information on how to get rid of bedbugs, this problem can be eliminated forever only after proper preparation of the room. This opens access to all remote areas, high-temperature processing of textiles, wooden structures, books, household appliances, and children's toys is carried out. To get rid of bed parasites yourself, you need to perform a number of steps:

  • the mattress needs to be removed from the bed; it is installed near the wall at a certain angle;
